Knight of Ratatosk, eh? Setting aside that the titular character is basically the knight of a rumour-mongering squirrel, I'm going to have to steal my brother's Wii. Oh yes. There's going to be a whole lot of stealing going on....

So the last two are both PSP?

Also, there's another one, Tales of Vesperia, that they haven't announced platforms for yet. I imagine, however, that since they already have one for all the other systems, it's likely to be PS3.

It's definitely not Wii apparently though, because of the resolution it runs in or something. That's what IGN said anyway.

Eternia and Destiny are two separate games.

I watched some little short with Lloyd and Colette in school and Kratos was the teacher. It was real stupid and it ALMOST made me hate Tales.

Also, there's another one, Tales of Vesperia, that they haven't announced platforms for yet. I imagine, however, that since they already have one for all the other systems, it's likely to be PS3.

From what I've gathered online, and I can't say that this is a definite speculation, Vesperia is going to be both 360 and PS3 (there is no other potential 360 game). This is being based on a series of things:

1) Eternal Sonata, by Namco / Bandai was temporarily exclusive to the 360, and Vesperia seems to be using a slightly modified version of that engine (the cell shading is very similar)

2) Multiplatform sells better dammit

3) For Vesperia, they seem to be hesitant with mentioning exactly what console it's on - which to me, at least means they're developing it for both

4) The RPG market is beginning to sell well on the 360, and even though Bandai has shown that they're interested with in the 360 ES, It would be stupid not to also release for the PS3. Sony's fan base is filled with JRPG nuts.


I repeated myself in order to make it seem that I collected more information than I actually did.

My bet is that It'll be a timed exclusive for one of the two consoles.

I am looking forward to KoR. Because it's the sequel to one of my fave games, ever. ToS was just so much fun, cliched story, but I played it for the characters.

And apparently the Zelos-lives ending is the canon one. Which makes me happy since I loved Zelos D:.

Still though, I can't see why they don't just make them all multiplatform to ALL the systems (Except Vesperia, since it apparently CAN'T play on the Wii). It's not like it could be THAT hard to port a game with animu style graphics.

It's just that's how the companies get their money.

Because there is always that one sap out there that'll want the game so bad that he'll buy the system and the game.

The thing is that what you're saying would only make sense if whoever-makes-Tales-games (Was it Square?) was owned by one of the companies who MAKE those systems. The best part is that they're NOT. So they would actually make MORE money by porting it to all of the systems.

Some companies give out bonuses to developers who keep their games exclusive to their system. Sometimes the programming between systems is very different, and a game has to be developed with the intent of keeping it multi-system or doing so becomes a huge hassle. There are a lot more reasons to keep a game on a single system (not all of them good, but whatever).

Really, I doubt the bonus that Microsoft or Nintendo or Sony pays them would outweigh the amount of money that they would make off of this. And these games use basically anime art. It's not like they have some super-fancy ultra-engine that's specifically designed for one system. And even many games like that are ported to other systems.

There COULD be plenty of bad reasons for it, but there aren't really any good ones, at least in this case.

Or because the production cost was so damn high that the sales on one platform, no matter how good, could not make up for it.

Which is exactly what happened to Tales of Symphonia, Resident Evil 4, and Viewtiful Joe. Which were all Gamecube exclusives at first.

Fine, whatever. Cel-shade can't be that hard either. It's not one of those hyper-awesome uber-engines that practically makes your system explode just to run it. And if they DID try to make one of those for a cel-shaded game, then they're retarded.

My original point still stands.
