The tags are meant to be a kind of keyword, eventually I think the idea is to create a searchable type of recommendations database...
Say if you have a comic about monkey pirate ninjas, you might have tags that say "monkey" "pirate" and "ninja" ... make sense?

Yes
But then it would stand to reason that I shouldn't be able to tag other peoples comics, and they wouldn't be able to tag mine, that would be like a creator controlled dealie.
Otherwise, in theory, I could go onto a comic I dont like and tag it "gay" without repurcussions, or ability for the creator to get rid of it.

I don't really see the tags getting used much, unfortunately. But you're right, they could be abused. Thing is, all they do is create words that allow your comic to be brought up in a search, so adding ANY tag makes your comic more searchable, I guess... even if somebody types "gay" and your comic comes up.

I want to say that there used to be a way you could look at the tags people had put on your comic and delete them if you wanted... I could be wrong though.
