Of course, the joystick on the PSP is incredibly weak. Weird considering the system as a whole is pretty sturdy. Aside that, and a few scratches, the PSP is okay.

Yeah, the joystick is the only annoying part. Mine got caught on something (can't remember exactly what right now) and I lost it for a little while. I spent 3 hours looking for it.

I'm talking about the actual stick, not the nub.

I played for waaaay to long on my PSP, enough to actually break the stick... and when that happens, the PSP is basically useless. It's turned my PSP into an oversized MP3 player with some video capabilities.

I have a love/hate relationship with the PSP's detachable nub. It comes in handy at times, yet it's an utter pain.

I thought the analog nub would be something they'd address when they made the PSP Slim, but unfortunately it remained the same.

Well, it's easy enough to stick back on, so I'm not complaining.

Controllers are harder to gauge, though, since how one person treats theirs can have a huge effect on what happens to it.

Not really. When the previous two Nintendo systems had a number of people experiencing calibration issues with the analog sticks which didn't happen on ANY OTHER SYSTEM, it's pretty easy to guage that as a unique design flaw to Nintendo's systems.
