depends on the character who is speaking.
Ive classified em a bit...
1) Absolutely no swearing
- angels
- priests, nuns, religious
- old wise men
- royalty
- "intelligent" leaders of political or religious movements... yeah and that includes leaders of terrorist and criminal organizations, evil empires, and neo-nazis who can do a hatespeech without a single cussword.
2) Mild swearing
- Teachers, Doctors, white-collared jobs
- Generals, high-ranking military or police
- goody goody highschool or college students
3) Average swearing
- average High schoolers
- average people who dont make too high or too low income... or at least got a job... you know... bus drivers, salesclerks... etc...
- elite assassin units
- The average person swears averagely.
4) Heavy swearing
- demons (or demon-possessed)
- ghetto gangstas, prostitutes (includes wannabes)
- sailors
- low-ranking soldiers especially in a heavy drama battle... like a trench or DDay thing.
- potty-mouthed kids like Eric Cartman from Southpark
Also depends on the situation... Even characters classified in the first category could possibly swear... depending on the situation.

I use a lot of profanity in my comic and in real life. Profanity never really bothered me or most people that I know. I suppose if my comic got popular or had a younger readership, I would tone it down a bit.

I have a bit of problem with cursing in Fantasy. I do not swear much myself - reserving it to when I am actually upset or angry - and my characters tend to behave in similar manner. So thats OK, but I have a bit of a problem of finding some suitable curses for my actually upset fantasy characters. "You son of " and so on are boring and "By the name of I will and " is silly and too long as well. I need some good short expressions that can replace the modern 4-letter words, any suggestions?

Usually a lot of Fanrasy lands have custom deities, (you know, the made up ones) OFten you can have lots of fun with inventing curses from them.
Ex: the gods name is Hadril you could say 'by Hadril's Ears', and that, in your particular land would be swearing. (I know you can think of nastier parts of the anatomy than that, but it was just an example)
Also with a custom deity, you can have you char swear by them, call their name in vain, ect.
Also, in most fantasies, there is almost always a race that is disliked and calling a person one of that race is a high insult. This also aplies with monsters/demons/people they are at war with.
Also cursing by your mother or father is common:
Ex: 'By my old pa's wooden leg!'
'Grandma's false teeth!'
Hope that helps.
