This actually makes sense. He's still going to promote "american values" but as a citizen, he's causing too much turmoil for the average joe citizens, and government. He doesn't want to act as a representative of america, but is still viewed that way.

Actually, Captain America DID renounce his citizenship, became known as The Nomad, and later undid it when he realized he could represent the moral values and not the people in charge.

Red Son was very well done. I like alongisde the whole Vampire Batman trilogy, next to Gotham by Gaslight.
Don't forget the one that I think John Cleese and Michael Palin wrote, I believe; Superman crash lands in the UK. It's pretty funny; a little silly in writing, but a bit of a hoot.
