Really cool looking, but I hope they have more characters than that.

Until they have Raiden from MGS2, the game will not be manly enough for us all.

From just watching it again I think I know who I'm going to play as when the game comes out. And it is Pit why? Cause two blade weilders are awsome.

Screw Pit, I've been screaming for Metaknight since the first Smash bros.
Still, things are looking good! I like the potential for the destructible levels. I'm a bit disappointed that they went with the (in my opinion) awkward-looking "Starfox Adventures" Fox, but it's cool that they've revealed another character, and now that I've gotten a look at him in action, I can't wait to play a few rounds as Snake.

Why does Pit even have a sword? Did they need someone who's moves would be similar to Metaknight so they turned Pit's bow into a sword?
Are you sure it's not just that one stage? Actually, I hope they do a bit more work on the stage design. I can't be the only one who thought the stages looked a little too similar and bland. I'm hoping these are just preliminary versions and the finished game with have something more elaborate. Every stage was a variation on the four platform setup with different backgrounds and maybe some hazards.

Yeah, the stages do have a very "beta test" feel to them. I guess it would be troublesome if all the levels were destructible.
As for Pit, it was probably a combination of a number of factors. Like you mentioned, to have a complimentary character to the flying, sword-wielding quasi-demonic metaknight, partially because he didn't have anything in the way of melee combat before so they built him up from scratch, but mostly I'd imagine it was just because it looked cool. I'm all for it, personally, I can't picture him fighting with something other than his bow, and as long as they're going that route they might as well do something nifty with it.

I'm kind on the fence on the idea of destructible enviroments. Those could eliminate a lot of the feel the game has. And it's already been mentioned that we haven't seen the massive variety of SSBM's stages yet.
I imagine everything will end up cool though. Nintendo has too much riding on the SSB series to fuck it up.

I thought the Starfox Adventures version of Fox was one of his better renditions. In Starfox Armada his head looks like a stuffed animal, and the less said about his look in Starfox Command, the better.
I was a frequent Fox user in SSBM. I was sure he'd be back, but it's nice to be able to see what he'll look like. I just wish they'd start showing us even more characters. I want to see Little Mac from the Punch-Out series make an appearance.

Hopefully it will follow the trend set by the previous entry in the series and only expand the roster, not take away from it. If it's anything like Melee, than any characters from the previous game that aren't in the main lineup should be unlockable.

From what I've read, they plan on removing Ice Climbers (because they're so unbalanced and fairly unpopular) and Game & Watch (since he was just a gag character anyway). There were early talks about taking out Marth & Roy, but they've apparently been quelled. However, Sakurai is making a point of not adding any new characters that are only known in Japan.
And who says nobody gives a shit about Jigglypuff? I've kicked my share of ass with the little bastard, and I know one person who uses it exclusively.

They'll take away Marth and Roy?! Oh boy my brother and some of his friends are gonna be some what upset. A little from my brother cause he kicked major ass with Roy and that includes mine. And his other friends played as Marth and... Yeah you get the picture. But thank god they'll take game & watch away cause when he's on hard he's a killer.

"Quelled" means 'quieted', meaning that the talks about removing Marth and Roy were silenced, because the characters are planned to be in Brawl, though it isn't clear if they're going to keep both of them, or (as some fans speculate) replace them with other, similar Fire Emblem characters.

Oh, was it Young Link? I thought for sure I'd heard Ice Climbers... Of course, there are the rumors that they're just going to replace Young Link with "Wind Waker" Link, but I'm not sure what his "name" would be. I doubt they'd just call him "Wind Waker" Link; maybe "Small Link"? "Mini Link"? "Toon Link"?

They better not be taking Bowser out. Bowser was always fun to play as.
We could lose Falco, Mewtwo, Pichu, G&W, Ice Climbers, and Ness. None of them are any fun to play as.

I think it's safe to assume they'd only take out a few characters and they'll probably be the least missed of all of them... none of the mainstays like Bowser, Zelda, etc. Honestly I wouldn't care at all if they took out Game&Watch, Iceclimbers, or Young Link. Having Wind Waker Link would be kind of cool, but I won't feel bad if that doesn't happen. They could call him "Controversial Link". Or they could shorten "Wind Waker" to "Wanker Link". Though I think the rumor of adding Wind Waker Link stemmed from a fabricated "leak" that was proven false.
According to the Smash Bros. Blog that Sakurai used to be keeping, from the data they got from web-based suggestion box, Starfox's Krystal seemed to be a one of the most popular suggestions from Japanese voters. She'd make sense to add, so I'm kind of expecting her to be a new character.

Now there I have to disagree with you. I love playing as Mewtwo and Falco, and have plenty of fun as the other guys you mentioned too. I am willing ot admit that G&W and Ice Climbers could be taken out without too much backlash, though. Ness would be easier to take out than the more famous characters (since only a minority of gamers at this time had even heard of Earthbound before he showed up in Smash Bros.), but he's still one of the most popular SB characters for his uniqueness of gameplay (and the ability to attack a moving target from the other side of the screen, I'd imagine).
As for Bowser, I'd heard somewhere that they're planning to add Bowser Jr. as a character, or at least looking into what moveset they could give him by investigating the character.

Why would they want to remove characters..? Didnt it take a lot of time to develop each character? I personally think all of them should stay...
Although, taking out young link would make sense cause of twilight princess... keeping him would kinda cause an inbalance or something.

Yeah, they did spend a long time developing the characters, but that was for the Gamecube. Especially with Fox and Link, you can see that they had to reformat the characters' appearance from the ground up. All the characters had to be rebuilt in three dimensions, more movement added, and whatever else it takes to take advantage of the new system. Characters already take up a lot of data on any game, but with the amount of data increased for complex, individual characters like you have in a fighting game. So it makes sense to "cut a few corners" in character creation if the character is A) Unpopular B ) Unbalanced or C) Simply a clone of another character. Each character, even if it's a returning character, is a lot of coding on the creator's part, and sometimes they're better off dropping some in favor of putting more time and energy into new characters or existing characters that are more important to the roster.
Personally, I can have fun as any character, but I wouldn't miss Pichu, G&W, the Ice Climbers, or Young Link.

...how did I forget that this is gonna be for the Wii?
I never really thought about it that way, i agree.
Speaking of 'clone' characters they'll probably change Gannondorf completely since he was just another captain falcon >:p
I'm expecting Krystal and Baby Bowser to appear cause their popularity...or should I say 'appearances' in games seems to have increased. As for Marth and Roy, I'd want them to stay but Other characters from Fire Emblem might be awesome too.

I'd put money down on original Megaman long before I'd even consider Zero. Word on the street is that Nintendo's in talks with Sega about getting Sonic in on it, but Sega knows they've got the big N by the short hairs on this one so they want to get all they can out of it.

That be interesting. But 10 bucks says it ain't gonna happen. Although... If Sonic "was" going to be in the game then all those flash animations on Sonic vs Mario will finally be realities.

Basically, it all started when Miyamoto and Sakurai both agreed during an interview that the third party character they most want to see in Smash Bros. would be Sonic. It's the one character the fans would go apeshit for and, let's face it, a shot of Mario and Big Blue throwing down during the beginning intro would be HUGE for advertising purposes.
Thing is, as far as I'm aware, Sega knows this better than anyone, and they're going to try and get as much as they can out of Nintendo. As much as the N would pay in royalties for Bomberman or a Belmont, they'd be willing to pay twice as much or more for the Blue Blur. Nintendo got lucky with Snake, since Kojima literally begged them to let him put him in there, but Sonic is a mascot for an entire corporation, and corporations can't afford to be fanboys.
