Maybe its just me, but I had a thought about how nintendo uses sports to make their next biggest hits. Soccer, baseball, basketball were all popular, especially the latter because of the final fantasy characters included.

If only they would make a wrestling game, that would be nothing short of sweet. It wouldn't be the same as Smash Bros, because only Mario characters will be in it. The princess shouldn't wear dresses because its impractical, so they'd wear their Mario Kart uniforms. That'll say something about nintendo... or maybe me... Tagging in with a helper would be fun as well, and you can use mushrooms to grow in size and hammers to beat them senseless. Ok maybe no hammers.


anyway, just a thought. Although my only gripe would be how yoshi uses his tongue, and they had better give Donkey Kong and Bowser some killer moves. Heck, put some final fantasy classes in there, anyone with me?

Not really, no. Cute idea, but I think it's a bit too stretch of a premise for it to work just with Mario characters.

I already have a hard enough time caring about sports, even with games made to be more fun like Mario Tennis, Golf, and Strikers. I don't think I'd actually play a Mario wrestling game, just because it's wrestling.

I think it could be a fun premise if it is done right...but with the success of Smash Bros. I highly doubt it will ever happen, I think maybe a super Mario rugby game would be kind of fun, I could even get down with Snowboarding or Skating...the only Mario Sports game I played was golf on Gamecube....which when was Basketball...was that strikers?

The Mario sports titles work primarily because they are non-contact. There is some mild violence in the Strikers games, but nothing more serious than knocking people over. Even in Smash Brothers, you aren't knocking people out, just smashing them off screen. There is never any real indication that these characters are seriously hurt. A wrestling game really wouldn't fit the Mario mold.

I agree with that. There's a sort of malicious intent in Pro Wrestling that I think wouldn't jive with the Mario characters. And I can't imagine Peach and Daisy being included in a way that would be tasteful.

But I do think there's room in the world for a more cartoony and family-friendly wresting game. Maybe something with a diverse cast of colorful luchadors, or something like Punch-Out but featuring wrestlers.

A family friendly wrestling game? I don't really see how guys punching and slamming the hell out of each other is supposed to be family friendly.

They could always remake the NES Pro Wrestling game they put out in '87.
