I made my way to my local Gamestop just to play the demo unit they had there.

Words can't express how excited I am for the game. In my head I am hearing mario whisper "two more weeks, two more weeks".

I miss Super Mario 64... I had all 160-something stars (Yes you can get more than 150, it's just that they're hidden in some really f***ed up places) and had gotten Yoshi to give me the super high jump thing. God I loved that game.

Super Mario 64 has 120 stars. I believe the DS version had more.

Super Mario Sunshine was an excellent game, I don't see why so many people disliked it.

Also, flying through space is incredibly cool.

Ok, I counted wrong. There were 120 normal stars, and several (I believe 10, though I haven't played in a while) extra ones that were hidden in really wierd places.

For some reason I thought there were 150 normal ones, I guess I'm just crazy. I know those extras were there though.

You'd probably found a glitch or exploit, there were only 120 stars in the game that were recorded and you're the only person who I've heard of who says there were more of them. If something like that was in the game, there'd be much more about it than what a quick google search shows.

Trust me, space-flight feels very Mario in this game. Of course, this isn't first time the guy has been to the cosmos either.

I wasn't saying that it was silly... just that it's not Mario. It's not what Mario does. Stomping on turtles is what Mario does, it's how he rolls man.

I think it's funny that Nintendo said that this is the closest that any Mario game has gotten to 64 since.. 64.

Sorry, but I've gotta say Sunshine claims that title. It's basically 64 with a watergun. Galaxy, however, is Mario in space. I'd say that's a bigger difference.

...well, what would anyone expect? It had to follow Super Mario 64. Sunshine was a great game but it was almost like an expansion pack to Mario 64. Kinda like how Episode 1 of Half-Life 2 is a great game, yet it still feels like Half-Life 2.

(also, anyone think that Super Mario 64 is significantly easier on the Wii?)

I don't see Mario flying in space to be all that different from Mario flying with the wing hat in Mario 64.

Got mine preordered. I was never a Nintendo fan, actually--until we got our Wii a few weeks ago. Now I'm freakin' hooked. (Love Rayman Raving Rabbids!)

Just picked up my copy today, cleared through the first Galaxy, though I doubt I gathered all the Power Stars in there.

But holy crap, this IS the game of the year.

I got my call from Charles Martinet last night. I'll pick up the game today after work.

I'm a little dizzy from playing Mario... aside that, everything's awesome.

You beat the game and suddenly it gets even harder.

Also, the best powerup in the game doesn't even become available until you beat the game. @___@

The controls here are fantastic. A flick to spin, and then there are the sling-stars where you have to grab the anchor and pull yourself towards it. The stickypods are awesome too because you actually grab them and launch Mario in the direction you want to go, not to mention 2nd player assists where they can help snag starbits and increase your jump. The single control galaxies are fantastic too, hold the wiimote like a flight stick and guide Mario and the glass ball to the goal for your star.

Simply said, this is possibly the closest to perfect videogame created in years and anyone who doesn't fall in love with it has some serious issues. That's all I am saying. I'm pretty sure that when you're twenty power stars in, you'll agree with me.

Actually, this is one of the few Wii games I'm thinking of getting. Not straight off, since there are a lot of other gamse that I want more, but I am planning on trying it eventually.

Which is why I'm thinking I won't like it. Those things have never given me much reason to think otherwise, and if it weren't for the incredibly good reviews the game's been getting I would just refuse to get it right off.

I just beat Super Mario Galaxy.

Remember that thread we had about whether or not a game should ever get a 10 out of 10 rating? I think I'd give this game a 10. It's that fulfilling. And I still have plenty more stars to get and a lot more fun to have.

I want this game, but I don't want to get the Wii for the sake of one or maybe two games.

And I can't listen to very many of your opinions because judging by the Smash Brothers thread and how you talk about Mario, your all clearly Nintendo fanboys.
