There have been a ton of crappy Super Mario flash games, but this one is super fun if you are a retro gaming geek. It lets you play through Super Mario Bros. using 1 of 6 classic playable NES characters. Meaga Man, Link, Mario, Simon Belmont, Metroid and Bill from Contra. And they all play like they do in their original games.

Obviously not perfect. But you can tell the guy put a whole lot of old school love into it.

Wait, you can talk about online games here? Awesome! Alright, I actually was playing it before you mentioned it, a few hours ago...and I'm impressed. I haven't played them all yet, the characters, but I like playing as Mega-Man, Samus not my favorite, never can time the bombs right and it turns out you're vulnerable while planting bombs. But mostly, I like playing as Mario, just the nostalgic memories of playing my first Mario Game...

Man... Playing through the game with Megaman is practically unfair. He's just the right hight to hit all the baddies with his gun, making them easy target practice. They don't stand a chance. At very least the other gun nuts have to duck before being able to hit them.

Also. Speed running through the game with guns blazing as Bill is awesome! You can just tell that he's cursing those turtles to hell and back as he turns them into colanders.

I was about to post this. This game is pure awesomeness and executed near flawlessly, I'd say.

I gave it a try earlier. It is pretty amusing. Had a hard time accepting goombas can take several rounds of shots or swords. Who knew they were so badass?

It's neat and all, but the big characters sorta make it hard.
Also Mario can't jump while running, which is retarded on so many levels.

I meant while holding attack to run, he can't jump. Though knowing my luck it updated to fix that since my post.

It must be a keyboard issue with you Crocty, perhaps it doesn't allow you to press those three keys at once.

It's a fun game, I got to World 5-4 before realising how much I suck. Simon can go screw himself for all I care.

I could only make it to 2-2 with Simon. He's absolutely useless in water.

I couldn't get through a single stage with Simon. I did get all the way to World 4 with Bill R. from Contra before I finally had to turn in for the night. Fun game; really takes me back to my childhood.

I wish you could download the game. I hate going to Newgrounds just to play it.

It's really cool though. The author says he cut Luigi, Bionic Commando, and that tank from Blaster Master due to time.

Yeah, that one sounds really hard to pull off, since Bionic Commando couldn't jump. I don't think it would really be possible, since he wouldn't have anything to swing from on most of the screens...

Well, they did have to fudge things for Simon Belmont a bit by giving him the double jump. Still, you're right, I can't imagine the guy putting additional blocks in for swinging.

But maybe give him a jump or something.

I played thru the first stage using Simon, just to hear that classic Castlevania tune. Oh wow what a great tune...

I hum it all the way through my morning commutes.
