Has anyone else experienced this? My comic has enjoyed a steady rise in viewership then, BOOM the bottom fell out yesterday! Did anyone else get signiffigantly lower numbers this past saturday?

A hot kiss is like a loose spiderweb, someones fly is gonna to get undone
A democrat is someone who would be a republican if he had the money
A blond can be bad at history and great on dates
A golfer yells"FORE", takes five, and writes down three
A brassiere is a device to bring out a girls best points
A husband is a man who gave up priveleges he never knew he had
Bad Sex is an oxymoron
if any of these made you laugh, grin, smile, or any happy expression read my comic

Mine did the exact opposite. I got the biggest boom yesterday (3k+) than I did any other day (I blame dA), which did great for my rank.
Updates Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday's (depends).

Yeah, same here. Maybe it's because I updated yesterday - so I got a decent amount of views and whole bunch of comments. Today, though, ten views so far. Which is not my worst day, actually - because between updates at least on one day I'll get no views at all. Oh well, ebb and tide, ebb and tide...

lol I'm getting lower hits too.
BK - got hits between 600-1500 in a day (between 10-20 comments)
BK - around 200-700 hits a day (around 5-8 comments)
MAGISA - since its new... I get probably between 50-150 hits a day. (less than 5 comments)
Maybe people are already tired of my stuff? Or maybe I AM deteriorating? in the same way that some bands/rappers/singers/etc... no longer produce the same quality of music they produced during the start of their careers. Or maybe there's waaayyy too many good quality comics out there that my stuff just gets blown out of the water. :P
Oh well... thats the way it is.

the amount of pageviews you get can vary a lot. my pages views fluctuate between lows of 100-200 and highs near 1000. sometimes non release days are bigger than release days.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, my numbers have been dismal today too. =p But, then again, it's Sunday, and I've found that my views are always lower on Sunday for some reason. Probably because I never really update that day.

Or because people have better things to do on sunday... like washing their car or watching football or getting in that last beer before the new workday.
Just avoid the weekends. It's sunday afternoon so I'm gaming but friday through sunday I'm either doing something outside or I'm passed out on the couch and this probably apply to a majority of people.

I've always had low visit counts, but that's because I don't update a lot, and my comic isn't very popular, so it's not anything surprising.

My numbers seem to jump around a lot but generally increase, so I wouldn't really worry about a one day drop.

It's always kinda up and down - about a month ago, I went from 200 to 20 and back to 200 in the space of 3 days. The longer the comic's on here, though, the steadier it seems to get.
Yesterday was good, anyway - 770 PVs.

Thanks for the comments and support folks! I'm still worried about the drop but I figure maybe it was school starting and such. I introduced a new character that might have put people off, But going from 5th place with 16K+ back to 11th with 1,750 was quite a drop. well see what this week brings i guess.

Nope, I got a major drop, over the whole weekend. Usually weekends for me are big, but seeing only 20 views was very bizarre. I posted about it in the Bug station forum, so any of the mods can check this out.
If anyone else has suffered a huge drop-off, then they should post in my topic about the stats drop-off.
But on another note to those who've been getting 2000+, could you send some my way? ;)

Yeah I got a big drop. I had more views back when I first started my accounts. I think it is due to the new school year.
Even though most people should have brought their computers to campus, and in fact MORE people should have online access instead of less at campus, the fact is school just started and ppl are busy selecting electives, decking out their rooms, buying texts, checking out the babes, etc.
Give it a month and things at campuses will settle down.

This could be the reason, but I highly doubt it would cause such a drastic drop off. I know quite a selection of my readers come from links on comicspace, comicnet and other places, as well as from promoting the strip at Comic-Con, and my local comic stores (which reminds me that I need to bang out more cards and flyers), so the school idea should only barely factor.
And if it takes a month to get my stats back from being 20 and below, then I would seriously consider just closing my strip, as to put so much work into it, to have such a low turn-round would not merit posting strips every day.

Some more theories.
1)OVERSATURATION OF THE COMIC 'MARKET'
When I started doing this whole webcomics thingy... I managed to get more readers and be more popular than I am today. That was back in 2001 when my art was at least 10x shittier than what I can do now.
My skills improved... and my hits went down. Doesnt seem to make sense?
When I began, there was waayyy fewer webcomics out there. But now there are more than 6000 at onlinecomics.net... and dont forget drunkduck and smackjeeves that hosts maybe a couple thousand comics each.
So that makes it at least 10,000.
Back then, as long as you can draw decently or actually have a plot, you're in it.
But now, you gotta have MORE than that. :P
2) THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO PERSONALLY DO NOT LIKE ME. (or YOU)
Doesnt matter if it resulted from a little disagreement over the debate section... or due to my incessant 'whining' back when I was alot more immature and lacked the mental strength to cope with the shit in my life. Basic immaturity from my part. I remember those good old days when I was one of the dudes in here who would be involved in a flame war. lol it was me, mykill, marine, kendra, screwpost, indy, inkmonkey, skoolmunkee, spang, seigneurei, etc... etc.. etc... who would often be involved in some sort of stupid flame fest with me or mykill or marine ending up like the 'bad guy'.
I know that was fucking retarded. But see... us artists are mental cases ranging from slight to severe. Musicians just get better reception for some reason even though they do drugs and womanize and get into fights... lol
While I've talked about my initial immaturity, what about NOW?
You see... as I've gone through lots of shit... I've learned to develop (and copy) certain ideas. Once developed, I got so uber-hyper and excited that I wanna preach it like a religious priest or something... Such stuff were usually in private messages or emails or chats on MSN or on other forums. Everything from human relationships to geo-politics... I have discussed one way or another.
Hey. What worked for me wont work for everyone. And whoever disagreed... musta thought I'm some fucking nutjob and decided to take it personally against me. I learned my lesson... to KEEP PHILOSPHY TO MYSELF OR PUT IT IN THE MOUTH OF ONE OF MY CHARACTERS IN THE COMIC. Or discuss it in like-minded forums.
So yeah... I think this is the MAIN reason for my drop in hits. Could be the same in YOUR case.
3) YOUR CHARACTERS SUCK SHIT!!!
Sometimes people wont like your characters. Either too boring, too ugly, to emo, too stereotypical, too bitchy, too asshole, too annoying, his/her way of thinking is just completely nonsense to your own way of thinking, etc... etc... etc...
One of the things that make people read a comic is their OWN identification with YOUR character/s.
4) SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE SUBJECT MATTER
Just like what you feel when some musicians you liked suddenly change their music into something that isnt what drew you to them in the first place. Some of your 'fanbase' will leave and you'd see new people.
Or what some people might call 'deterioration'. I think I've deteriorated in my ability to purvey angst. lol Since I'm not as depressed and angsty as before.

I'm edging more towards a screw-up with the stats counter. Mine has been stuck at 20 since 1am this morning, and the same for yesterday, too.
I know readers come and go, but this is just odd.
I've added this observation to my topic post in the Extermination Station and hopefully one of the mods will look into it.

I never sweat a low day. Seems kinda silly. You can't say readers have "dropped off" based on a single day. There are highs and lows. Wait at least a little while before you start to panic. ;)
I didn't have a "low day" Saturday. But I've had low days (300), and I can't predict what days those will be. Since in the beginning my low days were 0 to 10 and my high days around 80, I know the "real" trend is positive.
(@Nerfherder: It does sound like your counter is weird in this case, but I wonder why not everyone is affected.)

@ Kyupol:
1. Oversaturation doesn't occur in the space of a week. It happens over 5 years.
2. Unless you're a complete troll, your behavior in a forum doesn't impact your THOUSANDS of hits for your comic that much.
3,4. Again, a comic doesn't go from good to suck inside of a week.
I don't sweat it. Just commenting.

So far, as I can tell, both myself and heymelby are having the same problem, and I've noticed some similar problems from other members posts in the extermination station forum.
Its odd, as usually the lowest my stats have gone is about 50 and that's if I haven't posted anything in a week, but then after I post a new strip, they skyrocket the day after, and stay constant thereafter.
However what happened this weekend is bizarre, as weekends are pretty strong days for me, readership-wise.
Also, with the stats being stuck at 20 since Saturday is kinda weird.
Oh well, I just put it down to some coding somewhere going a bit fuzzy, and I know the guys who run this site will sort it out.

Considering I haven't even been around for two weeks, I got pretty decent numbers. I drop off and then come back up, just depends really. I usually can tell when I check the stats in the mid-morning afternoon area, as most of my hits come from the 1 AM - 9 AM area for some reason. I guess people like to check penis at that time for two reasons: 1) Right when it updates. New pages are always coming out right when Drunk Duck clicks over to the next day as I que them up the previous evening around 9-10ish. And 2) they check it in the morning because its right before work/school/whatever and its more convenient to do that while they check their myspace/e-mails at the same time. I've witnessed someone check it like that, and assume others do the same. It takes all of 30 seconds to read penis, I'd say maybe 20% of readers read the authors comments and maybe as little as 5% would actually comment for whatever reason. The vast majority my audiance is international too for some reason. Its the bill hicks effect I guess. My American-centric humor is too advanced for an American audience and the international (Europe and a substantial Australian audience mostly) audience thinks its a parody or satire of American people and love it because of that. That and poop jokes anyone can get.
Anyway, heres my hits page from the last couple weeks. Not bad, but considering I'm usually in the upwards of 400-600, this is a little low.
