I checked out Landstalker (the one above) around the same time I was playing through Time Stalkers on the Dreamcast. Time Stalkers actually featured a few characters from other Climax games, including Landstalker, Lady Stalker, and Shining in the Darkness. It was kind of an under-rated gem.

Sub-Terrania is a prime example of why these games are better played with dual analog sticks. You should check out Pixeljunk Shooter if you have a PS3. It's not as hard, but has some similar qualities to it.

This one's tricky:

Billy vs. Tree -- The epic struggle of boy versus tree.
Sonic Colores -- It looks like it's going to be a good game because I love how the way it makes me grow.

WTF? Landstalker was a mega popular best seller when it was released in the 90s. Nothing obscure about that in any way. That was a brilliant game, I still have my old cartridge with its old saved games. :)

Alright, I'll play.

I don't really know if this one's really all that obscure, but me and my friends used to play it all the time when we were kids.

It looks lie King of the Monsters 2, but the interface doesn't look like the SNES or arcade versions. I'm guessing it's the Genesis version.

I don't know what Humorman's is, but I can probably guess why.

OK, Landstalker may have been a popular game, but most of my friends didn't own anything from Sega, so I was the only one who knew anything about that game. I guess it was a mistake imagining that isu also knew little about the console...

Anyways, here's another try:

:D

Mm, nothing obscure whatsoever about that first pic, Erad. It was pretty popular back in the day.

Blaster Master is pretty obvious and a classic. Too bad the PSX sequal wasn't anything special.

The next shot is Cyborg Justice. A friend of mine in college loved this game. I still don't know why.

Here's another 2 to chew on

The first one is the Lost Vikings. The next one looks like Eternal Champions, which was kind of an odd one when you consider Sega used a focus group of kids to design the characters and then made a game with fatalities that made Mortal Kombat look tame. It's amazing they didn't catch some shit for that.

Isu, you could have made a pun about the fan in the background and the "shit hitting the fan."

It's ok though, I got your back.

Let's try another two...

The first one is easy, I would think, but the second might be less known.

Man Erad, all those were wide release mega-mainstream popular games. You're not trying our izzy hard enough.

Not that I could do much better, but I could try...

I used to love this one :)

Rampart wasn't exactly the most obscure game, either. It was an arcade game that got ported to just about every console known to man. Thinking about it, though, it really is high time they made a new version.

Ok, so I'm terrible at posting games...but it's not my fault that Isu is a gaming God. I had no idea that on the 8th day God said, "And let their be gaming" and brought forth Isu...

Anyways, here are another 2 games I've played but that I know are not super popular.

Chances are you will know them, but it's worth a shot...

Cheers

And which version was that one then, eh? ;)

Yep, new version needed. I played a web version after posting that and it was shite -_-

Probably the Genesis version from the look of it. Supposedly there is a version on the PSN for the PS3, but it looks pretty much like the arcade version. It's a game that could benefit greatly from being brought into the modern era with better graphics and maybe some new gameplay mechanics. Classic is good, too, but I'd love to see what they can do with it to make it more interesting.

As for the new screens, Heavy Nova and Mazin Saga Mutant Fighter.

I am beaten sir.

I feel like you are Voltron, only that you are not formed by weak cat robots, instead, your arms, legs, torso, and head are all forged from games. Millions of games, from the best to the worst. Thus, you know all titles like they are your own body...

My hat goes off to you sir.

BUT, I wanted to have another go...One last hurrah!

I had to put a red box over the game title for this one...good luck

E.V.O: Search for Eden. Those were the good days when Square and Enix were separate entities with both still making some of the best games the console market had to offer.

The first one looks like one of the SMT: Devil Children games for the GBC. A little sneaky on your part since those games were never officially released outside of Japan.

The next one is Shatter Hand for the NES. The game itself wasn't too memorable for me, but it has some really hilarious box art.

I remember Mug Smashers bad artwork from when a friend of mine was obsessing over playing through every arcade beat'em up he could get his hands on.

The fourth one looks familiar, but it's not coming to me at the moment.

The first is Faxanadu for the NES. I remember really being impressed by the way the characer's sprite reflected all of your weapon and armor upgrades. I guess that's kind of commonplace, now, but for the 8-bit era, it was kind of impressive.

The next one is Cho Aniki: Bakuretsu Ranto Hen, possibly one of the more entertaining fighting games to watch. It takes a departure from the rest of the series b being a fighting game rather than a side scrolling shooter. I don't really think it was ever that fun to play, but it was certainly weird. Adam's crotch beam still cracks me up. I think a new game is getting releasd for the PSP soon in Japan.

Alright, I think this one is kind of obscure (I think mainly because it wasn't very popular at the time it came out).

Hint: It's not Contra, although I think it was also made by Konami.

Actually. That honor belongs to Erad. He was the first to stump Isukun with an obscure Gameboy game early on in this thread. Crocty gets the second place though. Who will get the third?

Those were my two cents.

I've been MIA from this thread for a while now. To be honest, Isukun is just too damn good!

But I found this neat image on the internet and thought it would be great in this thread.

I think this image is the quintessential gaming IQ test. There are even some question at the top right which are sure to sump even the brightest gaming experts.

I don't expect anyone to type out the responses to the questions here, especially naming all the characters (that would be crazy) but at the least take a look and gauge how difficult you think it would be to answer all the questions. For me, I rate this as Difficult!

I had to animate that exact hot in Dragon's Lair for a class project once. I think it's still in my demo reel. Most of the stuff in the picture looks pretty main stream. They mak it sound harder by putting up a number, but I think people would be surprised how many they know. Some of the smaller pictures are a little hard to make out, though.

Oh...Just as I thought, the game I stumped Isukun with was only released in PAL countries, so I guess that doesn't count. :(

Okay, here's three games I loved, not sure how obscure they are, but...

Shit I loved the last two...
