This is a known bug. :) When you choose the option to stop receiving them (in the Edit Preferences link, the same place you chose to get them)... they keep coming. :? I've tried to get Volte on this but it seems it's low priority.
One thing I didn't try yet (you might want to) is to remove that comic from your favorites list... then try re-adding it? That might reset any database info it's keeping for you about that comic.
