Right here, though I don't play much since I'm a one-hander and can only handle up to about 12-footers.
I'm also Tokzic in the FFR community, if you've been there.

I do, nothing is better then downloading a level you've never played before and trying it on heavy with your dancepad hooked up to the computer and the computer hooked up to a big screen tv.

I really enjoy Stepmania... in fact, I've created dance steps for about a dozen songs.
I haven't played it much lately because my crappy plastic pad just doesn't stand up to the arcade floor, and there's no room to set up the pad in my tiny room.

I'm poor, so I don't have a pad hooked up to the computer, yet. I'm going to. I've also made a stepfile. I did the TMNT theme and posted it on BemaniStyle . I'm remaking it though because a good portion of the steps are of sync and it's just not very good. I'm also gonna add the video to it before I repost it. Also I'm working on the Top Gun Anthem because I really like it and nobodys made a stepfile for it.

I have two of my songs on BemaniStyle:
This one
and this one
I keep planning to put up the rest, but I just need to take the time to work out all the steps to where I'm happy with them.

They don't actually cost that much. You can get a half decent padded one for 30 bucks and the converter costs about 12. My immediate family doesn't have a lot of money either. My grandparents paid for the tv, because my grandpa couldn't see what was happening our old small one. He only comes over about once a year, so it's kind of pointless. I'm not gonna complain though.
To get back on topic, getting a dance pad makes it a lot more fun. It's suprising what you can do on the feet when you give it a little practice. Of course, certain songs are not really intended to be done on the pad. Whenever I succesfully manage to press all four buttons at once, I usually hurt myself.

the converter costs about 12.
You have to be careful which one you pick up, though. Since on a standard controller, you can't press in two directions at once, some adapters don't support simultaneous button presses for the arrows. I've been screwed over by Radio Shack on that before, so you may want to do some research before settling on an adapter. Most are pretty inexpensive, but some work with dance pads and some don't.
Also, with commercial dance pads, the pump it up pads may be harder to find and a little more expensive, but it has nine contact zones so you can play either DDR or Pump It Up with them.

Hey, Hawk: I downloaded both of your songs of BemaniStyle and they were both sweet! I already had a version of Yatta (with harder steps), but yours was worth downloading just for the video. I don't know where you got it, but it's the most desturbing thing I've seen in quite a while.

Well, the one I got had that problem, but I just found an unofficial driver for it that seemed to work fine.

Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't. Depends on the wiring. It's still best to find one that is known to work out of the box than to rely on the possibility that it might work with different drivers.

If you search eBay for PS2 to PC adapters, often times they'll say whether or not they support dance mats. I wasn't carefully about that the last time, but thankfully the adapter also worked for N64 so it wasn't a complete waste. I later got a nice two-player PS2 adapter that works well.
Thanks! Making difficult steps isn't one of my strengths, but at least almost all of my sims have videos to go with them. I really should put up more of my stuff. I try and focus on Japanese music and some of the rare, less obvious songs for the sims I make.

Lets see, right now the sims I'm working on are:
Redoing TMNT Theme and adding Video
Chip N Dale's Rescue Rangers Theme with Video
Top Gun Anthem
The Escape from Metroid Metal.com
and Callout by The Acro-Brats (best song in Guitar Hero)
It's just to bad I don't have much time to work on them between real life and learning to play the guitar.

Right now I'm working on *~Asterisk, which I'm going to release with very difficult steps and then some pad steps on a lower difficulty. I'll probably bump this if I ever get it finished.

So it's DDR on a computer? I guess that's cool. I like DDR better though.

There really isn't any difference in gameplay. It even lets you download packs to change the look of it to match DDR exactly. Songs can be accompanied by the videos you see in DDR (if you can find them) and you can add any song you want and create your own custom step charts, etc. If you hook your dance mats up to the PC with a converter, it really isn't any different from playing on the consoles. If you're like me and you've bought every previous game already, it can be a good way to compile all the music into one game so you don't have to swap DVD/CDs so often.

I should look into setting this up on my comp and getting and adapter for my pad. The best part of DDR is the msic and 70 songs just isn't enough!! At least with it on my compo, I have a cheap way of getting more songs.
Anyone heard of and/or have tried Dance Factory?

I've heard of it. Never tried it, though. Seems like it would be really fun.
As for Stepmania, I used to play it a lot to brush up on my eye coordination for real DDR. But alas, I am much too busy to keep up with StepMania right now.
Man, it's been awhile since I've played DDR. I really need to play again.

Okay, so I got a dance pad converter thing and I downloaded the game, but I only have like 14 songs so far and half of them are really bad. Anyone know of any good sites to download StepMania music?
Also is there a way to make custom music from MP3's that I already own?
