Everyone's heard of Spore. EVERYONE. Well, unless you aren't a gamer or something I guess. But seriously, say anything you want about spore on here. Things like the Species you would evolve or what kind of cities you would build, what you hope to see, what you hope not to see, any news on it, anything pertaining to spore.

BTW: If there's already a thread like this tell me, I'll delete this one and go to the other one.

I'm pretty sure they said early in '08 on the last thing I saw about it.

I'm probably wrong though.

All I know is that within the last two years it's been delayed at least three times, from what I remember. Probably more.

That makes me very sad. :(

This is the best idea for a game I have ever seen. I have been waiting and waiting for it to come out. It is going to be absolutely awesome. My wife will never get me off of it.

I think Spore looks double-awesome, with a capital AWESOME. But I'm worried about the open-ended nature of the game. Not for the general populous, of course, but for myself. I love playing open-ended games at first, but after a while I tend to get bored with them. Still, at least we've seen some definitive proof that the game actually is being developed, what with gameplay videos and semi-regularly released screenshots. Whether or not I think I'm going to be playing it for years down the road, I still know that I'm going to buy it almost as soon as it comes out.

Okay, I was going to put more, but there were WAY too many, and I couldn't decide which ones. I decided to put this one because it looks like it has comparatively high quality. Most of the Spore videos look like crap.

If someone else has the time, try to post one that shows the creature/building/vehicle editor more. You know, since that is the best part of the game.

Okay, so in Spore you build an entire species from a single-celled organism and evolve it to an animal, and if you go far enough to intelligent life and to the space age. While it's extremely open ended game play, and you can visit other people's planets once you get spaceships, it's been held back for years and years and years.

A great-looking game with lots of promise being held back for years at a time. Sounds like another Okami to me...

Mm, Spooore... I can't wait for it to finally come out. Once it does, I'm sure most of the rest of my LIFE be be spent playing it. =D

It was my understanding that individual units of other peoples' creations could pop up on your planet (the other monsters you bump into from time to time, the option to use pre-designed architecture instead of creating your own, etc.), but I didn't hear anything about whole planets. I know that it's not properly "multiplayer", since you only receive the data of other players' creations, and can't actually interact with other players themselves...

Yes. The highest level you can reach is space travel.

That's not what my question was. I'm well aware that there is space travel, I just didn't realize that the other planets you can visit are the planets that other people created. I was under the impression that they would be randomly generated with individual design elements taken from other peoples' creations, not a faithful representation of their entire planet.

Hmm.. I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure that Will Wright said that you can go to other peoples planets.
