I don't have it but it looks like an interesting kind of game here.
The only reason I'm not getting it is because it's mainly for the PC; and I'm trying my best to stay away from PC games now (my computer is slow enough as it is).

I downloaded the trial creature creator, it's definitely interesting looking and has got unique ways to customize your creature. I wish The Sims customization was that elaborate. (Hopefully they will be in The Sims 3.)

Is it basically The Sims with monsters and space travel?

Got my hands on it September 5th (European release date), and been playing it on and off since that date. 'Tis a really great game, but EA's decision on using secuROM has always annoyed me. I bought this game, my copy is my property - I don't like the fact that I'm narrowed down to installing it thrice before the CD-key is locked from online play.

It could have been nearly perfect, with a few minor changes.

What I hate most is in the Space stage, they give you a huge galaxy to explore, but you have to keep running back to your part because everyone and their grandmother starts whining at you to save from aliens or natural disasters or a mean looking rabbit. And there's no way to tell which black holes lead to where, so it's possible to get completely lost while your entire empire is destroyed by over powered aliens.

There's another thing, but it's a massive spoiler so I'm not going to say. Sure I could spoiler tag it, but you'd read it anyway.

Yes, you would, admit it.
Hey buddy, you should be a Russian Cosmonaut, and here's why.

That Is true about the space stage. what we hate is the fact that every bit of ammo and equipment cost so damn much. But we do love the game so. The CreatureTweker weapon is one of our faves. man we like twisting cute loving critters like the Bunny Fo Fo into a mas of Claws and Fangs. We feel like we Are Creating the Zerg. Now the thing we got a tickel out of was the fact that we made a Borg Cube for a spaceship. also for the land Vechicals. We made a walking robot. that makes us laugh everytime we see another race with that as a mode of transportation.

that and we just keep laughing at the Tribal stage and how they dance, and the music that plays.

other than that we Give the Game 7 punches to the Face. (think of that as in stars 10 being realy good. and one being doodoo)

I like taking carnivores from other planets, then buying a bunch of supersizers and unleashing an army of giant monsters on my enemies. It's actually kind of dull to watch, but coming back and seeing the aftermath is just damn satisfying. Of course, then you've got to clear out all the monsters so you can claim the planet.

My other favourite trick is turning inhabitable planets into worthless chunks of rock and lava. Being a bastard in that game is so easy, I wonder if was intentional, given the over all tone of it.

Thats The Part we Love. going to our enemies and turning there planets into a Frozen graveyard, or a Lava coverd hellhole. Killing all life on it, and then turning it into a lush tropical forest, then seeding it with creatures that we have altered.

ahh, Our creatures must seem worce than the Grox to all the other races. BWAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA!!

So I got it sometime during this week, and I'd ave to say it is really short.

I liked creature stage the most, next comes the space stage. :)

I've so far made 3 alliances, conquered one empire, and at war with 4 other empires.

according to EA, only 84 thousand in the US registered the game with them. Basically that means few more than that number actually bought the game.

A week after the game was release, it was cracked. And you can guess what ensued after that. :P Hurray for EA turning their customers away from buying their games! Same thing is happening to Red Alert 3, lots of people have cancelled their pre-order because of that.

and EA refuses to admit that their secuROM is obsolete.

I have a question mark. when you say killing other aliens, you mean the aliens other people have made, right? so what happens to that alien? And although i think I should know this, what's secuROM?
If anything bad happens,I'm blaming Global Warming.

secuROM is security thing they tacked on. It checks on the internet every ten days to make sure you didn't steal it or something. The great thing is, if you can't access the internet for more than ten days (like, for example, me) and try to play it when you do, it won't work.

As for the other thing, other peoples content is taken and added to your game, so wiping out another players species wouldn't do anything on anyone elses copy, just yours.

Ive only played spore for like 1 hour and I was very impressed with the whole proccess of building life and an empire.

But I got to admit the whole SecuROM is putting me off from buying the game. If I paid good money for it, why does EA have to check up on me? Its not like they will actually catch anyone stealing the game, because anyone who didnt buy the game wont have the SecuROM on it.

Bioshock used to have SecuROM on it. But after a while they took it off, and now it's mostly without copy protection (SecurROM is removed with an update patch). I guess the copy protection was mostly useful during the earlier life of the game, when it's most profitable.

It would be nice to see Spore drop SecuROM after a while. The nice thing about PC games is that they tend to drop price quicker than console games, so I don't mind waiting a while before picking them up. I think I got Bioshock for $30 instead of the $50 launch price.
