It's terrible, it truelly is. More mistakes in a 1990s style.

Oh gawd, someone scratch that image from my brain...

No it's a suit by Tony Stark, hence the colours too... rumours are that it won't be around too long. Thank god.

He won't have it for long, I'm sure.

Now the Black Costume, that was a great change and I wish he kept it longer, even after it tried to take over his brain and he ditched it on Eddie Brock. He had the cloth version for a bit after that but Mary Jane bitched too much about it so he went back to red and blue.

While I'm on it, anyone else wish Spidey would ditch the boring MJ and go back to the Black Cat?

Actually I sorta agree with TK. It's not a bad design, it just doesn't suit him. It looks more suited to someone possibly named 'The Scorpion' or something.

For once, I agree with marine. Spider-man should not have any "peripheral weapons" except his webs. He's not Batman for god's sake.

This is just stupid. :(

He looks like a Christmas spider. Whoever drew it got a bit creative with anatomy... Legs will not bend like that!
I mean, the ankle being bent is extreme, but possibly natural, but the right knee is twisted stuipdly.

Heh, wow you're right ozoneocean. Knee caps are not that elastic. :-D

Of course maybe their rational is that he's a 'spider' and so he can bend his legs any way he damn well pleases.

Or maybe that's one of the suit's new 'powers'. Ha! Wouldn't that be a lazy artist's dream? "My new superpowers allow me to alter my anatomy...AT WILL!"

Sorry. I couldn't resist the juxtaposition.

But yeah, this new costume design totally munches. I mean, people ain't gonna look at it and think, "Oh, that's definitely Spiderman." It looks like... well... like a cheap Spiderman ripoff, is what it looks like.

Yeah....he doesn't need those extra 'legs'. Spidey's been fighting Octavius too much....and staring at too many gold ornaments.

Jeez, don't try to make him look more like a spider...otherwise you may as well put a big pincher/spider mouth on his face and get it over with...and make the webs come out his ass.

The Red/Gold thing is supposed to be because Tony Stark (Iron Man) designed it. I call it lazy character design, but it all links into the stupid stupid Spider rebirth storyline. He died, no really, that's never heppaned in a marvel comic before, then was reborn thanks to his connection with... uhm... spiders... no that's never happened in... Alan Moores Swamp Thing... before...

Anyway they destroyed all his costumes when he died. So Good old uncle Tony fixed him up that atrocity.

Bollocks.

It connects up to a Marvel Civil War thing about Spidey and his loyalties to Tony Stark. So in one way it really isn't supposed to look very "Spider-Man", its supposed to look like Spider-Man through the eyes of Tony Stark.

Anyway, I like it - the version without the extra legs at least . Its a nice, streamlined design in its own right. And the occasional non-permanent costume change is fun to see in these iconic characters.

Actually, that's the first pic I saw of it, and I still think it sucks. Whe "collars" on the heels remind me of those old-timer shoes, for one thing. But if they just use it for THIS story line alone (because this time he needs weaponry, etc.) then I'll forgive.

That, I'll agree with. The black costume was great!

Hmm.. I originally liked it until I saw the comic where he's actually using it. xD I hope this one isn't permanent, like the black costume (even though I actually really liked the black costume). I thought the red and yellow looked cool when it was the concept image thingy.

Dang. Spidey looks kinda funny. Not at all what I imagined it would be like. The other costume has sentimental value. xD

 That'd be either "spats", "anklets", or "gaiters". Hahahaha! I'm not sure if there are any other proper names for them, but I've never heard tem described as "collars" before. :-D
It's actually sort of a good descruption...

I think it's a cool twist, personally. I haven't read the comics, but I heard Spidey got some serious injuries and the suit essentially allows him to continue to function despite his broken body (much like Iron Man himself). Anyway, based on promotional images of Civil War, it seems Spidey's going to be back in his old colors by the time of that story arc.

Personally, I'd like to see Spidey keep this outfit around as his "heavy armor". Personally, if I were to design a super hero, I'd give him more than one outfit to choose from. His standard outfit is good for his day to day patrols, but he's in the Avengers now, and while Spidey has quite a rogue's gallery in his own right, the Avengers tend to deal with stuff on a grander scale, whereas Spidey normally deals with stuff on a more personal level. I haven't read all of The Other, but the ones I have read show that Peter's feeling very vulnerable and out of his league lately. He's usually just coasted on Spider Powers all his life, and he's starting to realize that some day he'll be in a situation where those won't be enough, so he's started training with Captain America (so he could have some real combat skills, instead of just going off instinct), and he's decided to pick up more of an arsenal for himself.

Plus I think Tony would just get a kick out of making up Spider-based gimmicks to plug into a Spidey suit.

So, while I can guarantee the new suit isn't going to stick, I think it was a good idea on their part and could contribute to some very cool writing.

Personally, I liked the subtle changes to the outfit when Ben Reilley took up the role, and I wouldn't mind seeing Peter start wearing that one from time to time. But I imagine that, like the Black costume, it holds too many negative memories for him to be comfortable with it.

I usually don't mind it when artist try to change a character's uniform around a little, even if its a character that's been around forever like Spidey. But I think this is a bit of overkill here. Spidey just looks better in the classic uni IMHO.

The only advantage his new costume gives him is that it makes him look more like the Scarlet Spider
