A friend of mine just got it and I'm going to play it today. Apprarently it's the best 3D Sonic yet. No stupid stuff, just speed, jumping through cool looking levels, and stuff like that. Kind of like SA2 but with more continuous running and better camera angles.

You also have the ability to set the Japanese language track up on it over the 4Kids stuff.

Anyone else got this game?

I've got it. It's got some merit in some areas, but the controls make it a little less friendly than the Sonic Adventure games. Constantlymoving forward, but making you have to go backwards for some bumpers was a poor choice in some levels, especially with how awkward the controls are for going backwards. Also, flicking the controller to do the homing attack was a bad idea. It makes it harder to get the timing right and often simply doesn't register. There is also the problem that frequently when you try to do the homing attack and an enemy hits you out of it, you get stuck pressed up against the enemy and just take damage until you die. Jumping is also a chore since now you have to charge you jumps, forcing you to plan ahead for jumps, which can be difficult on your first few times playing through a level.

Most problems could have been resolved if they had simply made the jumps function like they did in other Sonic games (light tap for small jump, longer press for high jumps), made the homing attack work with a second press of the jump button and made backwards movement linked to the d-pad instead of rotating the controller.

Definitely has some clunkyness to the controls aspect, but the gameplay is definitely a step in the right direction for Sega. Hopefully future Sonic games will improve on this engine, instead stubbornly sticking to the failing system of the other 3D Sonic games.

I really wish I could just plug in my Gamecube controller in and play like the old Sonic Adventure games. Then I wouldn't mind the continuous running at all.

But it's way better than Shadow the Hedgehog. And the music is really cool too.

The game would definitely rank pretty high for me if it weren't for the control issues. Game designers need to learn that they don't need to sacrifice good controls in the name of motion sensitivity on the Wii.

On the one hand it must be awfully satisfying for Wii owners to be able to brag to PS3/360 fans that they have the superior Sonic game, but it's going to be sad when it gets ported to those systems and the other side can point out that they've got the version with more natural controls.

I read it was a better than the PS360's version (ghehe) but still not the greatest.

IGN gave it a 6.9/10

Oh to dream of a day when SEGA makes a Sonic game that's half as good as SA2 was.

Oh, no. It's games like these that sadden me.

I couldn't even finish the first area of this game. The controls are so awkward, it's painful!

I rented this game and returned it, on the same day!

Well, the fact that I was getting sick while I was playing may factor into this, but that's beside the point! Now, I'm warning this franchise not to get silly again!

Wait, was that Monty Python a minute ago?

Seriously though, it's games like these that make me realize how downhill my favourite game character's franchise has gone.

It's truly, truly sad.

I'm one of the five people in the world who actually thought Sonic the Hedgehog for the 360/PS3 was one of the best games in the entire franchise.

I rented it, and I would have liked it, had the controls not been god-awful. Well, back to playing SA2.
It's a comic!

Yeah, if this had been as good as SA2 I would have bought the Wii. But no.

I guess that saves me money, but it's annoying. I just want SA2 with more Sonic/Shadow levels! Why can't you make that kind of game, Sega?!

Yep, got it as one of my first wii games.

It's quite a nice game, lots of nice features and options and the graphics are wonderful.

Though I've got to agree with everybody else on the controls, the moving backwards is awkward and moments and on sharp turns you can sometimes get to a complete stop, going in the wrong direction and failing afterwards. The first time you race a little pixie thing this really gets on the nerves since the locking onto the target and then homing into it doesn't work half as good as it would. Making for a lot more damn-I-died-again-by-falling-into-the-pit moments than is really wanted.
