So, no SDCC for DrunkDuck this year?

It seems that this year, drunkduck will not be having a booth at this year's San Diego ComicCon, unless there's been a screw-up with booth listings.
Going by the extensive listings in the lastest issue of Comic-Con magazine (the one with Samuel L Jackson on the cover) of companies attending this year, neither drunkduck or Platinum Comics are listed.
Being as SDCC is the largest Comic-Con on the West Coast, and the most recognised in the US, its sad to see that drunkduck has decided to opt out.

That can't be right... the Comic Book Challenge thread mentions that the top 50 are to present to a panel of judges at the con.

Well, in the lastest ComicCon mag, neither Drunkduck.com or Platinum Comics are listed as having a booth at SDCC.
If the publishers have made a screw-up, then Platinum/DD should contact them to have it rectified for the next issue.

Then again, several other companies have pulled out of SDCC this year, some having voiced concerns that the con has become too much under the sway of the Hollywood PR machine, and is losing touch with it's roots.

Okay... maybe Platinum isn't going this year. Platinum Dan just announced that CBC is going all digital and there won't be anything related to is at SDCC this year.

SDCC is way expensive, Maybe they thought they wouldn't get enough turnout from DDers to make it worth the money.

Or maybe they tried to register too late and couldn't get a table even if they wanted one :D

Now there is word that TokyoPop will no longer be attending SDCC, as they've just laid off a bunch of their staff and are cutting down their output.
Some info can be gleaned over at Wil Wheaton's blog, and some other forums.

It seems that SDCC is really starting to play itself outside of the comicbook ballpark and squarely into the hands of the Hollywood PR machine.

well last year was my first year attending but i didnt and dont really feel that way. i feel like it IS becoming a con that is playing to a wide varitety of audiences and theres nothing wrong with that in the end it all depends on what youre there for and what you want to give your attention to. i was there for the COMICS and comicdom first and foremost so thats where my attention went to.

I kind of feel like thats a copout skoolmunkee, how are you guys and to a larger extent us (as in comic creators on this site)not gonna have a pressence at the grand-daddy of all comic conventions. I feel like that would be an excellent venue to showcase the talent of this website. Sadly it seems like no one at platinum or the DD staff feels the same way.
