I haven't and probably won't but I am interested in knowing if it really is as bad as several negative reviews have indicated. What say you entertainment junkies? Is The Spirit a winner or a bust?

Well. I read some of those reviews myself and that successfully scared me off. However, I did recently see the feature trailer, when I went to the movies and frankly speaking, it didn't help.

There are many, many things I'd rather stick in my eyes than paying to see The Spirit.

After reading certain reviews - both positive and negative - and finding out some of Frank Miller's history, well, I lost any of my marginal desire to. I'll just borrow Sin City from somebody, or something.

I thought it looked bad even before reading reviews...

The group consensus seems to be in accordance with early box office returns. The Spirit isn't making the splash it was supposed to have made. Instead it sounds like a dud.

I saw it.
I was really excited.
But then it wasn't soft core porn like I thought it would be.
And I was astoundingly disappointed.

I went and saw it and it wasn't that bad...it didn't live up to the hype by far but it wasn't a horrible movie. Give it a chance you might just like it. Eva Mendes does get naked also:)

I hate eva mendes. she acts like cardboard and never takes ANY role she ever does seriously. she shouldnt even be getting jobs.

this movie was good. plain and simple. not great, but good. this wasnt totally eisner's spirit, and it wasn't totally miller's spirit, it was a mix and it worked. alot of the people saying that this is a disgrace to eisner and all that bullshit havent even read eisners actual strips, they just think they know what they're talking about.

It was fun and a great movie visually. id put it on the level with sin city.

Until the part where Bruce Willis tore the yellow guy's johnson off with his bare hands. That made it worth the entire rest of the movie.

I tried watching it free online, and still couldn't get past the first 10 horrible minutes. It's 10 minutes of my life, that I can never get back.

As near as I can tell the Spirit is about a guy with a snazzy hat and a mask that hangs out with some strippers and sometimes runs along rooftops. Maybe you need to follow Will Eisner to fully appreciate it?

I went in expecting a horrible movie and I ended up really having a great time. I looked at it in purely detached camp way and it was really fun.
