I've sworn i saw this topic somewhere else. Woulda post there but I can't find it.

Anyways, I like DrunkDuck's community, much nicer people, especially the mods and how they aren't that strict. I mean, if i only posted in the self comic promotion thing and forum games, i wouldn't be pre-warned of spamming. And i can just joke around a little, just not alot to the extent of going off-topic and spamming.
I like how you can add custom pages in SJ to make your webcomic like a website for your comic and how it's easier for me to edit the template and pages' HTML and CSS. I tried changing them here, but i can't seem to change anything.
I like you can upload multiple comic pages at once and edit the "author's comment" while uploading. I also like how you can re-order the pages and set like chapters. INn SJ, if i wanted to re-order, I'd have to change the dates. :P
I like ohw in DD we have profiles (like SJ) BUT you can add friends.
I like how in SJ your comics has thier own profile where you can tell how many fans you have, how many comic pages there are, what are the latest comments on the comic, the list of peeps who faved it, and have a list of similar comments.
I like in SJ how it has a link to read a random comic if i don't want to just browse.
i like in DD how it's easy to find the browse button.
Community in DD is, not nicer, just the same, but the mods annd admin are less strict and more fun. Don't really know the words I am lookin for.
I like how in SJ how you can have the comic be in more than one category, and there is three, style, genre and format (ie strip or full page), and you can have more than one in each, unlike here.
But I like how you can categorize each page. And also the rating. In SJ it's just wether it's mature or not. Here it's, E,T,M and A, a bit more indepth. I dunno what word i am looking for. And SJ just shows a pop-up sayign that you must be a legal adult,a nd you just click yes to view it. That does nothing to block little ones from viewing the comic. Here it actually blocks the pages.
I do like the navigation in SJ, it's much cleaner and simple. When i used it for the first time, I wasn't all that confused. But here it took me a while to navigate.
I like how you can change your freakin Birth date in SJ. I am 18 and born on year 1988.
But i must've accidentally put 1987 coz i can't view certain comics that says it's blocked coz i am not 18 yet.

Wow, so I can write more than a paragraph. Still...

It tokk me a while how to add pages later on thought here. But after a while, it does get easier than i'd thought.

i also like on DD when you fave the comic, it stays on the page instead of going to your favorites. So if you are reading a 200 page comic and happened to be in the middle nad fave it, and forget to tag it, youwon't lose your spot when favin.

I started on DD back in the day, when DD crashed (for the first time) I went to SJ, I didn't really like it, bad layout and even worse community, but I made due. When DD came back I went back to DD, but then it crashed again, so I went back to SJ. This time I really thought DD wasn't coming back this time so I settled in for the long run in SJ. I found out that I could add extra pages, which is really cool to make your website feel like its own.

But the strict mods and harping 1 sniping douchbags on the site really made things hard to deal with.

DD came back, and now i'm never ever going back to SJ.

Smackjeeves is for kids and nerds. Drunkduck is for older kids and older dorks, extreme geeks, unwarrantededly self important losers, pretentious jerks, and sell outs.

Also we have an iphone contest and penis. Thats the major differences.

That and Drunk Ducks layout is better than smack jeeves. Easier user interface, admins and guys who've been around and know how things work, and a generally more mature atmosphere. Even though like I said, its still web comics. So its not perfect.

So you had that experience too, huh? Bullying arrogant MFers who act like they own the place, just because they've been there a while. You and I are not the only ones who think that, either.

I basically stay out of the SJ General subforum now, because that's where those MFers hang out. But there are some ppl I like very much in the Manga and CC subforums, so I do go back periodically. Also the SJ admin recognized my comic despite the short time I was there, so that engendered loyalty from me.

Basically there are only a few MFers there bogging the whole atmosphere down, but everyone else are very very nice and smart ppl, I found. Dunno why they don't come here too.

I still use SJ, but I stay out of the forums. i never had any problems with people commenting on me comics though.
What are MFers? Oh. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOh.
I've never had that problem, everyone was nice to me. I just don't like this one mod in the forum coz apparently, you're a spammer if you only post in the comic promotion and forum games. I mean, i only posted 1 topic, containg 1 post in the comic promotion topic. And i got a warning for that. Plus a topic i made in forum games got locked. Too strict.
I just like the hosing like how you can have a webcomic site, with scustom pages and etc.

Drunkduck is the best webcomic hosting website ever. Don't get me wrong, SmackJeeves is a fine site but DD will own every webcomic hosting site.

I mean, the layout, the quality of comics, and the community approve for me that DD is better. Even better than ComicGenesis. Damn, that site is complicated.

Drunkduck... you're the best!

Enjoy... Las Vegas-y

I don't have ads over on penis or werewolf.

Or any Drunk Duck comic or any website for that matter. I use a thing called "adblock." It even blocks annoying flash ads! Its a plugin for firefox that kicks advertisements in the genitals, aggressively. Very aggressively.

On blocking ads, I had to block the flash ads, just last week. There is a set going around, with a blink flash sequence that will induce an epileptic fit, even in people who are not epileptic. The static banners or the animated gif ones(I can hit the escape key and stop the animated gifs), have a lower click rate, but I'm seeing them still, as opposed to the absolutely annoying flash banners that I'm not seeing at all, anymore.

The adds killed the site for every single British user just a few days ago, for almost a week... So, they can be quite bad. it depends.

I'm fine with non-flash, non-pop-up (though those are fairly ancient things) ads. :) I've joined a lot of free webspace places, and the ones with no ads and lots of space/storage ALWAYS had very short lifespans, terrible support, and/or were down constantly. These days, I just plain don't trust "free hosting with no ads."

When I think of SJ I think of Yaoi, manga, and sprite comics. Not too much else.

The top ones are Yaoi. Totally. So much so I think that goofy mustache guy mascot of SJ should be a sexy shirtless bish man getting smacked.

I do still have one of my comics there. I like how my long DD TPCTH webaddress is simplified to www.tpcth.thewebcomic.com at SJ.
So I admit I do use the SJ address when referring people IRL to my comic.

I think the webcomic reading is faster there too. There's so many ads at DD(the pw ads add to it) it takes like one minute to go to each page sometimes.
At SJ I can just click click through the archive.

Now I must say there are much better comics at DD then SJ. DD is my homepage so I'm always going here and reading. One page update at a time is no problem here.

I can't help but agree with you. Took me a week to get a site and they made the overall system difficult to use.

It's pretty darn lame.

Edit: I don't know much about Smackjeeves, but after listening to plenty of comments about it (before this thread), I have no reason to want to open my comic on there.

Since the community doesn't seem too friendly either, I'm not too certain I would want to open a furry comic there anyways.

Except for a few asses, everyone else are normal ppl.

The forum doesn't have as much activity as DD's. I wholly blame the asses for that.

Comic Genesis:
I didn' mind waiting 2 weeks (no it wasn't ONE) for access. But it seems you have to code the webpage yourself entirely? I haven't done anything with my account because of that. They don't have a single html template for artists? WTH? Even old places like Angelfire had templates.

Comic Genesis's is just too big for its own good. I could have just as many posts over there as I do here and post just as often, and no one would know me at all.
