Should it be more than just a webcomic?

I've got a delimma.

With my current work schedule, I'm only able to produce and publish one panel of my webcomic "Tales of the Revenant" per week. I've got some other, support information on a blog for the comic, but....no one usually goes there.

Here's the question: Do you think it would be too disruptive to the storyline to post a panel of the comic, and then a page of background information about the characters, the process, and fanart?

For instance, heres a sculpture of the main character being done by a friend of mine, Eric Diaz (http://arthammer.deviantart.com/ ):

it would tend to disrupt the story if you do..usually you leave that type of things to the side of the page

I do think that it would be disruptive... I mean, are you suggesting this because you think one panel a week isn't enough to draw people in?
Here's an idea- You could add a link to an 'extras' page, and state that it'll be added to on a set day. That way, you'll still get regularily updated content, but it wouldn't create a break in the artwork/story if someone was reading through the comic archive.
Oh, and that sculpture is gorgeous. Guess talented artists tend to run in packs, huh?

You know what you could do is: after you have enough panels to make a page, you could combine them and show what the page looks like. This way, it's one extra update every now and then. You would still post the panels, but when you post the page it'd be like an "Oh, that's right!"

If that makes any sense.

Thanks for the advice, folks!

I've decided not to interrupt my story just to get extra posts. I'm mister quality over quality, yessir!

And thanks for the compliment, Green! I'll pass that along to the sculptor!

If your story is structured in chapters, then maybe you could post one or two "extras" just after each chapter is finished, but it would be nice if those extras would be posted outside the regular update schedule (say, the day after you post the chapter ending) I think that it wouldn't be too disrupting and it would be a nice way to make the extras fit. Extras are cool, methinks.
And yes, the sculpture just rules. Then again, it is based on a great character design.

I believe i've read a webcomic that does something similar to what you're saying.

http://www.aliendice.com/

Basically, the artist draws a few panels, and then writes a short story to explain things more in depth. It seems to work well for her. Give it a look.

If there's any sort of voting going on im hoping that you do post "behind the scene" sections on the comic, It's always nice to know what goes on in a persons head, especially when the comic is of good quality. Just putting in my 2 cents, oh and the sculpture, hardcore.
