Eveyrone's art improves through time, surely. And here is how you can how much it has!
Post a panel from your first comic, and a panel from one of your most recent comics!
Or if you're too lazy to crop out a panel, just post the first and last comic!
Anyway, here's mine -
First comic

Latest comic

Yes, improved.

I was too lazy to make two, so I put it together quickly in Paint. Left is the first, right is the latest.
By the time you finish this, you'll have read it. :3

ugh, my art quality is sporadic, it also depends on how high quality my paper, pencils, and inking pens are. seriously, if you want to produce high quality work, you should be willing to spend money on good tools. (the most noticeable difference for me so far is watercolour paper... low quality watercolour paper and my work looks like sh*t, high quality watercolour paper and I won $500 in a contest... barely 2 hours of work too >.>)

anyways, here

omg! I made a liar out of myself. I totally forgot about this one comic that I tried back in like november of 2005. A friend just sent me the link...I can't believe the dang thing is still online! I did all of 2 or 3 pages and quit.

Then, this is a recent-ish comic panel

EDIT: Well the old link died for some reason, so here's a new "Today" pic. (Sorry for the bit of blood stain here. Topaz isn't a cannibal, I swear.)

And I'm still using that Zud Juice font! Go me! XD
Why do I feel like I haven't improved that much? ._.

Okay, here's an interesting one. This is every hundredth comic in my archive. You can see the evolution not only of my art, but of my writing from goofy sex jokes to over-the-top drama.

I see improvement but not enough, in my art.

Page from 2004

Page from 2007 (Just did it in a few minutes today)

I should have learned to plan out my pages more, back then.

I don't know if I'm improving really that much I've been aiming to become more simple in my style.

My second and third attempt at coloring I like it in April.

Recent attempts at coloring. Trying to be more simple

Trying something completely different. With this Dr. Who fan art.

I feel that my art styles changes When I started art class at the end of High school(2005-2006)
Example from a past attempt at sci-fi:

To this summer

Same story. Differences. Started using Photoshop to make my own layouts instead of preset panels. I've also used less backgrounds now.

To now how I draw my recent Webcomic. It's funny when I was a kid I made some drawing that were horrifically violent now I'm doing talkies.

Fun topic. :) I've been drawing my comic for a little over a year now (posted the first page on Christmas Eve, 2006), and it's kind of fun to go back and look how far I've gotten.

This is the first page:

And this is the page I posted yesterday:

I'm not quite where I want to be yet (and, considering my inner perfectionist, I don't think I'll ever be where I want to be), but I've improved a whole lot.

The Continued Misadventures of Bonebird - a poor bird's quest for the ever-elusive and delicious apples.

Hmmm...wow, there's been some serious cahnges and improvements. I wish I could remember everyone's name and say--good job! Well, there, I just did. This is a pretty fun topic and made me dig thru my archives. I thought it was interesting to see how you guys when you went to a digital medium, that it added alot of color and professionalism--agian, well done. There was a particular manga black and white sample that caught my attention too...erg, I'll have to go back and see whose it was.

Anyway--below is a sample of my first comic. The pix on the far left is done with water color paper and acrlyc paint. The one one the right is a computer reproduction of the same frame, when I redid the comic using a mixture of hand drawn stuff and digital.

And this one is from one of my last comics. Sketched, scanned, then inked and colored.

Yeah, Inkmonkey, that's quite an evolution. Keep up the good work.
Looks like you've gone places too, glenfx. Keep it up!

Actually, now that I'm going back through my own art...mine has also changed quite drastically. I really didn't like my drawings for a long time. Looking back now doesn't help, either. >_<

I haven't gotten back into comicing, so I don't yet have a recent "after" comic page to compare with one of my really old "before" ones. Oh well. Regardless, I think these pictures of one of my comic characters make a good look at the evolution, though:

Stacy (to the right) - December 2004:

Stacy - January 2008 (Just drew this, actually, haha):

That's about a 3-year change. I'd say worst of all, I am still wishing I was better... =/

lol, yeah, poorly placed speech bubbles was a problem I didn't realize until I started getting the hang of comicing. Just call it another sign that it was early, amateurish work.

EDIT: Thanks, Exzachly! :]

Looking at my old stuff that I did in middle school, it's kind of embrassing.

Here's the old verison, from all the way back to 1998.

It's embrassing that I actually did my comic on line paper, and actually used markers that bleed though the paper as my method of coloring. It didn't help that I actually drew and colored on both sides of the paper to save up on my paper costs. ^^;;
and don't bother trying to read that last page... even if you could read it, my handwriting was really sloppy back then so I doubt much of it would make sense.

Here's how my art looks now:
I'm on hitatus while I redo one of my webcomics. Be sure to check it out when I'n done! :)
