San Diego Comic Con 2011 is coming up.
It's the BIG one... So you have to get your tickets and travel plans, accommodation etc all organised early.

I will be going, who else is going to come along?

Myself along with James Riot (author and artist of The Path ) are going to try and exhibit this year, putting money up for a nice expensive space.
If you want in on that and have the cash to contribute, we'd love to help you promote your stuff with us!

Or if you're just going to be at the Comic Con we'd LOVE to meet up !

I want to goooo.
Not that I'm being helpful to the thread or anything but if I scrounge up the money and the time off from work I may see whomever is there.

Well apparently all spaces are booked up 3 years in advance or something with a waiting list of 600? If that's the case it seems bizarre that they have current applications on there website...?

Anyway, I'm still going regardless. I have an idea that if we can get a large enough group of us together, all wearing attention getting costumes, we can use to to get interest and hand out promo stuff for our comics. ^_^
A few people did that last year and it seemed to work out pretty well.

Hi Guyz!

I'm a newbie to Drunk Duck. I'll be at SDCC 2010 to promote the book I'm writing, The Conjuror Zero.

BTW, you can probably still get a table, or maybe even a booth (expensive!), from no-shows on the first day of the con.

The only thing is, you have to have all the paperwork in, on time, in the SDCC files. Then, on the first day, be the first to check in to see what last-minute cancellations you can take advantage of! But, having the right paperwork is crucial. The paperwork includes a CA "Flea market/Yard Sale" tax permit if you plan to take any $cash$ for your wares. It's super important that you already have your name on one of the waiting lists - I recommend the Indy Press area, but they will offer you whatever they have. Oh, and it'll still be full price, so I better volunteer to throw in 8D

It's great to have a spot on the floor. That way, Drunk Duckers can meet up, put stuff out, and have a place to escape the convention madness. I plan on putting out some flyers and stuff if we get a table.

Does DrunkDuck already have a table to promote the site?

Damn, I missed this!

Yeah, I'd love to see you there!
No, no DD table :(

That advice about getting a table is marvellous!

Haha, I missed out on tickets to the actual con!!!!!!! XD

Last year I bought them in June though because a whole bunch of hotels were selling them along with accommodation packages.
I don't know whether the hotels get allocated tickets early so they can fill up vacancies at unpopular locations closer to the time, or whether they get first dibs on refunded tickets so they can basically do the same thing.

Oh man... That's sweet.

...I bet they won't extend that offer to moderators though :(
Those were my two cents.

I mean from your own experience. How did YOU do it?

I'm a creative professional in that I'm a graphic designer and have worked on many art projects over the years, but the only thing I've really got my name on right now that I can point to is Pinky TA and that's only a web comic...?

I suppose the Quackcast counts too?

The offer doesn't extend to web administrators, so my DD role here probably wouldn't help, but I dunno. I'm not a technical admin here, I'm basically a community manager.
-Actually reading through more, my DD role MIGHT be good for it. :)
still tricky though!

Nah I guess you missed it but it does say this:
"Professional status is also extended to those responsible for the content of websites that promote the historic or ongoing contribution of comics to art or society."
