In light of the recent news about Ryan Reynolds casing in Green Lantern, I have a few comments about that. I personally am not happy with this choice. Reynolds, who is typically pigeon-holed in comedic roles, does not seem appropriate. I understand his fan-base will build ticket sales, but I have the solid belief that film super heroes should be portrayed by unknowns. These heroes are so iconic, that to install any other pop-culture actor in their shoes seems jarring and unsatisfying.
Examples: Halle Barry (X-Men), Ben Affleck (Dave Devil), Jessica Alba (Fantastic Four), etc.
It just doesn't work.

To be honest, putting Brandon Routh as Superman certainly didn't helped at all.
Ben Affleck as Daredevil sucked because Affleck plain sucks and the movie would have been awful with any other actor...Same goes to Jessica Alba as Sue Richards (I actually think that Halley Berry as Storm wasn't that bad...Catwoman, on the other hand).
I'm not sure if Reynolds will fit as Hal Jordan, but he seems like a good choice to be Kyle Rayner...

What about the guy who'd going to play Thor?
I'm conflicted there... He does look enough like the "all-American" stereotype character that the comic book Thor is, but I keep thinking of the big red faced, red headed, angry, bearded great brute that's described in all the eddas and it just seems so weird.
So of like as if some muscled ropey action hero freak played the movie version of Rob Liefeld's idiot Jesus comic character and you're constantly thinking of the caring carpenter guy from the bible and all the paintings etc.

I'm sick and tired of Ryan Reynolds and his shenanigans. First he takes Scarlett Johansson from us and now this?! He should just stick to making pizza with another guy and a girl...

Although he's not a bad actor, there's just a part of me that hates watching his movies.

I can't say that I've liked Ryan Reynolds in anything that he's acted in ever.
I haven't seen a single film or televsion appearance where I've said "This is very entertaining and I like the performance of this Reynolds guy in it."
I dunno, maybe he hasn't gotten the right role yet. Still, I'm not optimistic about this movie.
Geoff Johns writing and producing the Flash movie might be good though.

He reminds me of that Shia kid, in the sense that he's really a talented guy who just has the misfortune of starring in shitty films.

That guy does NOT look like the Marvel Thor. Bah.
Also, something about Ryan Reynold's face bothers me. I don't know what.

The fact that physically he would play a great Plastic Man?

Wait? There's a green lantern movie now?
I'm waiting anxiously for the plastic man movie now. Because it's only a matter of time.

And it looks like they're making a big budged version today.

Nonononono...That wasn't a movie, that was a 90 minutes (little bit more) pilot...That doesn't count as a movie...DON'T MESS WITH THE GEEK!!!
However, I remember that series, and it was pretty cool, and probably one of the best DC adaptations on TV.
Now, going back to the fanboy mode:
A FLASH MOVIE, AND A GREEN LANTERN MOVIE!!!! YES YES YES!!!!
If they could handle every hero to one studio, they could FINALLY put together a Justice League movie, or a The Brave and the Bold movie, or a Superman/Batman movie...Even Dark Knight Returns...

Um, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man?
Hey, Downey was friggin' PERFECT as Tony Stark. I heard he didn't even have to audition; they begged him to play Tony. Downey is an asshole and so is Tony, so it fit perfectly in my opinion. Downey can relate to alcoholism/addiction as well, and I hear that aspect of Tony will be featured prominently in the second film.
And I would have preferred Grace Jones over Halle Barry as Storm...though I don't think Ms. Jones is doing much acting nowadays.

I was thinking the exact same thing.
Anyway, I really like Reynolds: he's a cool guy and doesn't afraid of anything. I'm just a little surprised by the whole thing because he's already set up to play Deadpool in his own movie.

I also agree he'd make a better Kyle. I love Ryan Reynolds, he doesn't have a great list of films under his belt, but he's a good actor.
As much as I love DC Comics over Marvel, I'm much more looking forward to Reynolds as Deadpool. The Deadpool in X-Men Origins wasn't THE Deadpool, but he keeps saying they want the Deadpool movie to be a faithful adaptation, so we'll see.

Yeah, that was technically speaking a pilot for the show that you're talking about there but it was still a feature length film.

Ryan Reynolds was originally in line to play the Flash before he appeared as Deadpool or they'd even started talking a Green Lantern movie in the press. I actually think he would have been good as Flash.

I've never been more excited for a casting in my life... well, when Ryan Reynolds was said to be Deadpool, I had a nerdgasm. But, seriously, Wolverine Origins SUCKED. But I can't wait for the ACTUAL Deadpool movie, or Green Lantern, actually. We shall see...
