Been playing this one way too much lately. So much that the battery in my Nintendo DS needs to be changed soon. X_X
It's a nice change from the main series (keep in mind this game is a spinoff). Not only do you have to make money by farming the land, but you also have an RPG quest to go through. And instead of having to buy livestock you have to capture monsters to get your honey, eggs, and milk. You can also task some of those monsters to help ont he farm (watering and harvesting crops). Too bad you can't just let them outside to graze (though you don't need to build any fences either).
I'm dragging out the RPG part of this game by overleveling my character so the bosses will be easier to defeat. Crafting swords, shields, accessories and potions is fun. Gathering the 2000 lumber you need for your house is a real pain and it's way too easy to get money (just mine a few high level rocks out of the caves and your money troubles vanish in a flood of gp).
I'll post my friend code later in case anyone wants me to send them a few high level stones (good for when you're just starting the game). :)

It's out? Wow...
...any dating simulation in there? Cause one of my favorite parts of these games is getting my character married and raising the family.

There is. There are 11 brides to choose from, but you can't swap between save files in this title (once you start your game, you can only save that particular game to that particular file, and there's only two save files to use). Some brides are very easy to get. Others require an item along with the proposal (no blue feathers here). There's at least one bride that requires a high level item before she can be married, and you can only get that item by trading via WiFi.

While I love this game, I'm getting kind of sick of this "trading via wifi" requirement a lot of developers are tossing into the DS games in order to access everything a game has to offer in a strictly single player game.

WiFi is optional if you want high level stuff to sell since the sell price = base price x level. Every trade you do on WiFi raises that level by 1.
The only reason why you'd HAVE to use WiFi is to marry one of the "brides" in the game; she requires a level 80 Lover Snapper as part of the proposal but you can only catch one at level 70 or so with max skill level + level 5 fishing rod.

I say requirement as in it's required if you want to get everything in the game. You can only level things so far without it. Pokemon has ruined single player games for some people. A lot of companies are jumping on this whole trading bandwagon since they feel an obligation to add some sort of wifi support even to games that don't need it.

Yeah, I'm with Isukun on that one. I was very upset when I found out I was required to send stuff via Wifi on FFIII in order to unlock the last Job, as well as go through the extra dungeon. I don't have proper wifi access at the moment, and aside from that I don't know anyone who has the game that i can wifi with. I think some games make decent use of wifi without going "outside the box", or worse, restricting the full potential of the game. Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin had a simple trade system and a co-op battle you could go through. You didn't have less game if you didn't do either of those things, but if those are things you're interested in doing, you have that option.

is it really that awesome?
I've got Harvest Moon DS, that's about it. You can play mini games such as blackjack in it to get extra stuff, and you can marry a mermaid, a witch, or a goddess and or just normal girls in it. you can also cook.... but otherwise it's your typical harvest moon game.
oh yeah, you got to unlock and free the sprites too for you to be able to do anything well on your own. it's also a reiqurement for you to unlock at least 60 sprites before you can get around to marrying a girl... sigh.
I might ger rune factory for DS too, condsering I'm pretty much a harvest moon fan...
