So this is the character that got me started drawing comics in the first place, when I was around 10. I am a HUGE Batman fan and an even BIGGER Robin fan...James Todd is my favortie one of all. *okay I know that he's not everyone's...but I like Anti-hero's.* It has been and still is one of my dreams to work for DC and be given the opportunity to do a few Robin issues...if I were...this is what I would draw. ^_^

nice pic. Lovely work on all the details. I love the colour in his cloak.
That's also a spunky pair of gaiters he's got on. Very 18th Century ^_^

Aww...how kind. ^^ I kinda adore the Victoiran era style of dress very much...I've read a couple of ElseWorlds Batman's sometime ago...was inspiring...and for some odd reason, both the duo's fit into that era really nicely. I would die to do a whole book on Robin drawn like this.

Awesome. I love Robin too. He's cute : ).
BUT he needs his Robin color-scheme! Just tint his clothing red & green & yellow!!
Of course you don't have to... but they're pretty colors...
awesome background, and I want those shoes!

The pic is really awesome, and I agree with many of the comments about how B & R might have fit well in Victorian Society. However...I just can't quite wrap my head around those high heels. Sorry, but, the historical reason d' et for high heels was to;
A: Make the female leg look longer and lovelier--and trust me--it doesn't work for men--our hip structure just doesn't accomodate this extension (why in ballet men dance on the flats of their feet, not en pointe.)
B: To render a woman just that tiny bit more vulnerable (balanced precariously on heel and toe) and helpless in the face of masculine physical domination.

I cannot see any self-respecting super-hero (even a woman superhero) wearing high heels. It's just not practical to make oneself MORE vulnerable when fighting bad-guys!

Umm...this Robin was a guy, right? Hard to tell at my advanced and enfeebled age...

Sigh.

I really enjoy your take on Robin. I personally think that Batman AND Robin would both probably look really cool with the Victorian/Gothic kinda look. So you should re-design Batman as well. Just, keep him a man, because it's in his name :P

I would like to see Robin as a girl in the official comics though. Robin is, in my opinion, cooler than Batman (I like Nightwing), and to see a girl going around kicking ass dressed up as Robin, that would just rock. DC needs to realize that. Don't get me wrong, Robin is cool as a guy and whatnot. It's just, every side-kick I've ever seen in a superhero comic is a guy. There probably is other comics with girl/woman side-kicks, but I've never seen it.

Great work, by the way. I love the amount of detail you put in it. The background especially looks nice. I think it would really stand out if you could maybe just color Robin, and leave the rest just in black and white.

it's already been done, man! there's spoiler robin (a girl who sometimes wears pink and sometimes dresses in the usual robin outfit) and as far as girl-sidekicks, you've got batgirl (she's Gordon's daughter!!! omg) and supergirl.

Haha..wow...I so forgot about this thread! XD You guys here always make such great comments and feedback. As Kristen and others have said...there was a girl Robin...but she was so much more weaker than the male counter part. *why do they always make the girl weaker?* Anyway...lolzz..I know how men are when it comes to wearing high heels themselves, but personally, I think they looks really good on some men, does just the same for their legs too! XD And trust us girls guys...you can do just about anything in heels...and since most female super heros are a little bit cranky, try wearing heels for three hours and see how you feel after that. XD

I do have a Batman drawing as well...maybe I should post that up too?

I think its a good piece, but it did not read as "robin" at all for me. I think Kristen said it before, but he needs a robin color scheme and something else that makes the viewer go "ROBIN FOR SHITS REAL"

Except hopefully they would not actually shout that. That could be bad.

it's a nice piece but no offence I don't see robin here at all. Thres nothing here that really CONNECTS him to robin beyond you saying it's robin. Ofcourse theres the mask but by that logic he might aswell be Zorro. I know he's Manga Robin but I don't see any Robin in it. I'm all for Redesigns or reimaginings but you should somehow be able to tell that the character is the character without being told it is the character. That's my oppinion anyhow, I'm not saying cape and spandex I'm just saying he has to make you think Robin. Right now He's far closer to the Scarlet Pimpernell to me.
if I was a teapot I think I'd be orange.

Oh I agree with both of you there...others on Deviant art who have seen this didn't know who it was at first at all...that's pretty much what I wanted to do when I drew this...a complete re-design of his character...I would still keep with some of his original colour scheme. I can't change that, I'm too big of a Robin fan to change his colours. I was just curious to see what he would look like without his tights on. Thanks for the constructive critisim. ^_^
