Yeah, they're called reporters. Sorry guys, I'm siding with isukun on this one.
I think you're getting cameramen (or women) confused with the actual reporters. Most news stations will buy footage of disasters, or whatnot from whatever sources they can find to be the first to get the scoop. This means that they'll buy that footage from regular people who just happened to be in the right place at the wrong time.
Unless of course we're talking about internet blogs. Those guys are practically nuts, and I could easily see them stopping in the middle of all that devastation to get some grotesque pictures of a corpse.
