I've seen this before in the early 90's. But the ending was so-so. Nonetheless, the entire movie doesn't rely on any CG effects.
The second video about the head changing woman was a bit creepy. Why didn't I realize that when I was young?

I remember that movie. It was pretty damn cool, and the effects were amazing for their time.

i have it
Ditto.
A lot of it was vastly different from the books in The first and second movies. but I kinda liked the second movie, with how it was more darker and sinister than the first movie.
And of course the whole thing with you wondering if it was just really all in Dorothy's head at the end. Move over Alice (from wonderland), there's somebody who's a tad more crazier than you!
I like the books better though...snice how sometimes I'm such a sap that I prefer for things to be portrayed as real, instead of just all in Dorthy's head.
And speaking of the OZ series.... tomorrow on Scifi Sunday, they show Tin Man, a revised more mature Dorothy going to the land of OZ. I'm definely going to watch that.
I'm on hitatus while I redo one of my webcomics. Be sure to check it out when I'n done! :)

I like the Michael Jackson version too ^_^
Ever seen the anime cartoon series [en.wikipedia.org]? I loved that back when I watched it on TV years and years ago...
Return to Oz was a good film. Good Scissor Sisters song too. :)

It's actually pretty easy to find. Just check amazon or even your local video store. I know I've seen it in Best Buy and Borders around here.

When I saw this thread I thought it was kind of odd since the Wiz was on TV today and I caught a couple of scenes before my roommate wanted to switch to Spinal Tap.
I'm also amazed that the anime versin actually got a DVD box set as well.

That movie terrified me when I was 6! I haven't seen it since but I think I'd be really embarassed being so freaked out by those damn wheelers! By the way the girl who played Dorothy was also in The Craft. She played the witch that went crazy.

That was one of the few movies that nigh gave me nightmares as a child. It's a lot darker than the first Oz movie, and I'm not just talking about the head-switching. The threat of electric shock therapy was something my mother actually used on me after seeing that. haha.

I did. You know there was supposed to be a TV series conceptualized by Tim Burton which was supposed to be a sequel to the Oz stories. It's really unfortunate that wasn't made instead of Tin Man.

i love that movie so much. Watched it all the time.
it would hold up too if the wheelers weren't so 80s-ish
still I will force my grandchildren's grandchildren to watch it!

Someone might have mentioned this before, but the lady who played Mombi was Jean Marsh , the same lady who played Queen Bavmorda in Willow. Can't forget that wicked face & creepy voice.

That movie was crazy awesome. I thought Mombi was the wackiest, most awesomely terrifying character when I was a kid--and Tick Tock was the (mechanical) man!
My other favorite Oz adaptation was the anime voiced by Aileen Quinn (played "Annie" on stage) and Lorne Greene...that was really good, too.
