Resident Evil?

So, the first RE game I bought was Code Veronica. Currently, I also have both the Outbreaks. I enjoy the Outbreaks more, because I find the movement controls easier. Whereas in CV, they're just frustrating to me.

Does anyone else find the main game controls annoying as hell? And what RE games have analog movement (other than Outbreak)?

I'm a big fan of slaying zombies and I'd make a career out of it if I could. I gave Resident Evil 1 a chance a few times... the first time on the Playstation, then again on the Gamecube when it was redone. While it had certain engaging elements, it was ultimately the awful controls and irritating tenacity of those unkillable zombies that made quit playing.

Now, Resident Evil 4 was a different story. That game was pure gold. I've probably played through it at least four times and I enjoy it each time. I think the poor tank-like controls of the previous Resident Evil games were the result of trying to make a kind of game before the technology could provide for it. You really need a moving camera, not those fixed cameras and prerendered views.

Well, if you think about it, Resident Evil 4 basically keeps the same tank controls just shifts to a different perspective. One that actually works for the controls instead of against them. When the camera is constantly shifting like it does in the first three REs then you can sometimes get confused with where your character is going.

I say they continue the controls from RE4. Such a great game.

Such and such a great game. Didn't Onimusha have the same controls as RE1? I believe they were also the same makers. Of course Capcom, but the people behind it.

The First Resident Evil I ever played was 4 and I loved it, Leon Kennedy rocks. If 5 plays anything like 4 I'll definilty pick it up.

I never really got into Resident Evil for the same reason most people are mentioning; the control scheme. Aside from which, I was always annoyed at how stupid the player was; if there's one thing I've learned in my 21 years, it's that if you have a rocket launcher, doors aren't "locked" anymore.

I ignored RE4 for a long time, assuming all the talk about it was just hype, but as time went on I learned it actually was as good as everyone said, and I'd been missing out. Of course by then it was released on the PS2 with a bunch of new content, and I'd feel like I was missing out if I bought the Gamecube one.

Luckily I've read in a recent Gameinformer that they're porting it to the Wii with "Zelda" style wii controls tacked on (meaning using the remote for aiming and some melee junk, but for the most part being a normal game).

Actually, here's the commercial:

I also hear they're releasing an on-rails shooter for the wii as well; some kind of prequel thing. Anyway, I'm looking forward to that too, since I really enjoy those kinds of games (on-rails shooters, not prequels)

^ That has to be one of the silliest commercials I've ever seen.

I'm thinking about getting Dead Aim. It looks pretty entertaining. And creepy.

It actually has you using several of the past characters in their various eras as they learn more about Umbrella corporation. I think some of those hardcore RE nuts will be disappointed at the change of format for the game, but I'm a huge House of the Dead fan, so I'm really looking forward to it.

I have only played re1 directors cut actually, despite my love of zombies. If I hadn't played PE2 for 6 years I wouldn't have mastered the controls. I just heard that the rest sucked, except for 4, and I haven't picked it up yet :P but I will, once I find one (no videogame stores in my town)

Be careful with dead aim, it seems like a decent RE but I found it to be my least favorite of the series. The game is also incredibly short, My time was 2 1/2 hours to complete going slow and steady. So if you do get it be prepared but don't expect the worst cause it is still fun to play and if you have already played it, then nvm. :)

RE2 and 3 were the two that got me hopelessly addicted to the series. I can't even guess how many times I have played through those games since they first came out. I remember flipping out the day I walked into Software Ect. and found that Capcom had just released another Resident Evil on Dreamcast. thankfully I had enough money to get it at the time otherwise I don't know what I would have done. XD RE4 was a very excellent change to the series and RE5 looks to be along the same caliber. I can't wait.

Since there are RE buffs here, out of curiousity, did the RE1 remake fix the bad dialogue? That was hilarious, but in a bad bad B movie bad way. Just wondering ^^'

To the best of my memory it didn't. I think Jill is still the "master of unlocking".

I don't think that line is still there, sadly. I was really dissapointed when they replaced "Jill-Sandwich" with "You would fit nicely into a Sandwich." XD

get the ones on Gamecube, my favorite RE was 2 but god damn did part 4 blow my expectations out of the water. I just wish it was more of an RE game, its more something completely different from the rest. Sure it has the same characters but its wildly different. And a much much better game than ANY resident evil I've played.

Yeah, the DS version had all the original dialogue. XD I wish RE:DC would come out on PSN (dam japanese) even though I still have an original "tall" box copy sitting on the shelf. I'm too afraid to scratch it. lol

The original dialogue was awesome. Take this for instance:

You have just defeated the plant boss, you step outside and bump into Rebbeca.

"Chris!"

"Well, looks like we got to the ROOT of that problem."

The way he says it cracks me up everytime, the opening movie is hilarious too. It's on my DD profile.

As for the games, I have loved practically every single one. I dont care if it has poor dialogue and unrealistic movement in the earlier ones, I can replay them to no end. Resi 4 was just fantastic though, can't beat that shit. Well, maybe 5 can.
Please, please, you give me too little credit.

I don't know about the other ones but Resident Evil 4 was so good. I loved it. Unfortunately I haven't beaten the game yet because it's at my friend's house. But either way... it's a good game. Leon... is pretty sexy I guess.. hahaa... and the president's daughter (forgot her name) she was f-ing annoying. Ugh. I hate having to save her from the las plagas european zombie dudes. >_<

Yeah. I got pissed when he didn't show up in the Resident Evil movies.

Still, for sheer coolness, I'm a huge fan of the Nemesis. I'm surprised they haven't put him into a fighting game yet, he'd be awesome!
