Resident Evil: Extinction

I hope this one turns out well. The last one was fair, but not as good as the first one. Although the idea of a zombie apocalypse in a Six String Samurai-type world sounds cool on paper.

I'm only happy because it's rumored to be the last one. This joke of a zombie series needs to end. What a terrible set of films, took a great game series and turned it into an absolute disaster.

I really hate this movie franchise. I wanted the storyline from the games but they raped the game and gave birth to these movies. The storyline for Resident Evil 4 would have made an excellent movie. But as always hollywood does not have a finger on the pulse of society. I understand some may really look forward to it and that's cool. But I am so disappointed with the Video Game/Movie productions trend. I want it to end.

People people. It's okay. I heard somewhere that Vanilla Ice was going to appear in this one. I'm sure he'll make it all better. He'll simply tell the producers to Stop. Collaborate and Listen. And then he'll go into a three hour long dance routine with child like simplicities.
Ice Ice Baby.
Ice Ice Baby.

It's such a shame. I think Milla Jovovich is a great actress...she just takes a lot of lousy action roles.

I'm sure I'll go see this. The RE movies have been rather poor thus far, and this looks to continue the trend, but as far as game to movie conversions, they're about the best we're ever going to see.

Once this is out, Anderson can concentrate on ruining Castlevania!
Edited to be more accurate.

Am I the only person who thought Silent Hill was a faithful adaption?
Guess so. :(

Ummm ... going out on a limb here ...
I liked the first Resi movie. No, really! I mean, I was never a big fan of the games to start with, so I didn't particularly care if it was "faithful" or not but, as a movie in its own right ... I thought it worked okay.
Ummm ... if I say I agree that the second one was pretty poor, can I come out of the corner now?

A WW2 fighter pilot, a First Century warrior queen and a prehistoric shaman. Oh, and their tailor. These are not your common-or-garden heroes! [..]

No. Get the hell back there.
Seriously though, it was on Film4 for the millionth time the other week, and in the advert it said "Resident Evil, great game, rubbish film." If its bad enough for them to state it on TV and then show it right after, BigFish is lol.
Please, please, you give me too little credit.

There's one thing I'm excited about this film is that Claire Redfield will be in the movie!
Claire Redfield is my all time favorite female character! I just love her... that's the reason, I feel pumped up about it!

I'm wondering what happened to Jill Valentine in this one. It has some of the characters leftover from Apocalypse, even the pimp guy, but Jill is for some reason absent. You mean to tell me J.V. got beaten out by some zombie crows, but the last remaining pimp from Racoon City survived?

I agree on your points about the first one, though I haven't seen the first one, so I can't say. It screwed up the story a bit, but I think it got the "feel" of the game down pretty well. And by that I mean that the movie starts out as basic horror (people wander into a creepy place, and gradually have to deal with zombies). But once the zombies do show up, it basically becomes an action affair with intermittent puzzles and more "freaky visuals" than actual "scares" (if the difference has any meaning to you). I heard the second one drops the ball, most of my friends saying that Jovovich (since she's banging the director) got her character made too "wicked cool awesome to the max!!" than was right for an RE movie.

Okay, so at the end of the first movie, Alice is given enhanced strength, reflexes, and regerative powers. At the end of the second movie, she's given psychic powers. NOW, she's got her own army of clones! By the end of RE4, she'll have reached Super-Saiyan level!

The movie was shit. About 10-15 minutes worth of action, all of which was the spastic garbagy mess we have learned to expect from the movies. There is maybe 10 minutes of plot at best. Virtually every character has maybe 3 lines at most before they die and all Alice does is stand around looking angry as she walks through the desert.
Fuck this movie. Fuck it to hell.
At least the first two movies succeeded at being vaguely entertaining (if only barely so). This movie made Spiderman 3 look good in comparison.

...at the risk of being totally shunned, I did like this movie.
There are four main reasons for this.
1) I love when girls totally kick ass.
2) Even in really bad movies, I love it when there are supernatural powers.
3) Milla Jovovich is cool.
4) Zombie movies rule.
In all fairness, I didn't play the games, which might contribute to me liking the movies.

No offense taken. I understand why you guys like it and I don't have any solid reason why I do. I just do.
