I hate to be pessimistic, but I can't find a logic behind it aside from either

A.) Legitimate ignorance or
B.) The urge to be angry about something.

Because honestly, RE4 was almost identical in the regard in question--instead of being a white guy shooting up Africans, you were a white guy shooting up Spaniards. What difference does it make? Why is this somehow racist, while RE4 wasn't? What magical tint line was crossed that it's now a huge deal?

Honestly, I think it's just people blowing smoke. It's like the whole sex/Mass Effect thing--there's much heavier sexual content in other games, but those games aren't popular. RE5 is on the radar, which means every would-be newscaster, ranter and reviewer looking to fan a good flame is going to tear it apart. Controversy draws an audience, and some people are afraid to be more controversial than ripping apart the fridge logic of videogames.

As a black guy, I can honestly say that I don't find it racist in the least (now if Chris happens to burn a cross or lynch someone, that'd be different). Having the game in a different setting just shows me the influence that umbrella/or that cult group has, and that the fight has moved from boring Raccon City and Europe. Truth be told, up until now I thought black people were naturally immune to the T/G virus and such.

Seriously, people look too deeply into things sometimes.

I don't understand, either. I mean, it is set in a rural African village, is it not? Wouldn't that mean that there are Africans there? Or am I wrong? Has the white man taken over the whole world that now Africans in Africa is a rare thing?

Plus he's shooting/beating the crap outta these guys because they are zombies. But since they're black, it's okay for them to chew on Chris' arms and not defend himself, because that would be racist. 9_9

The reason why people say it's racist is because most of it's reviewers are uneducated people trying to make a living off being idiots. Don't know why people care what other people say about a game, because it's usually just mundane banter.

You could say Mario games encourage drugs. You could even say Kirby games have sexual content. It only takes something extremely little these days to spark something big.

You just made me want to play 'Run to the Hills' on rockband. Love that song.

Resident Evil 5 trailer released.
Bloggers, some crazy, others conspiracy theorists, a minority were (aspiring) poilitical figues, the rest stupid, see it.

They get their knickers in a twist, game related news sources reported it (as they're expected to), idiots responded.

Stupid and crazy gets off the chain. The meat of the discussion is around the ongoing topic of racism in general, and really has little to do with Resident Evil 5, thick people don't notice. News stations cover it.

I beleive in a very strong seperation between reality and fiction, so I pretty much dismissed the whole thing as a load of crap from the word 'OFFENDED', and gawked.

If they can throw a righteous fit when a white congressman uses the phrase 'black hole' to describe a bad financial/administrative situation, they can certainly riot when a video game features a white cop shooting zombies who are African.
