How about "you wasted your 20 bucks you got from your grandmother for Christmas"? XD

I'm finally getting used to it, and the sword fighting is promising (wish it was ALL sword fighting)...but I'd still rather have something else so far. >_> So many BUGS too!
Might sell it on Ebay and get my 20, or something close to it back.

Red Steel is the unfortunate result of new technology. Like the comic artist who just got Photoshop and tries to fit every filter he can think of into his work, so too does Ubisoft try way too hard to utilize the Wii's unique technology.

But, although all the combined elements just didn't mesh, the basic premise behind the controls is sound, and has been well implemented by other developers. Ubisoft is working on a sequel already, and if they keep what they had in the first game, but did it well, you could be looking at a very good game.

Thanks for the input, guys.

Going off topic now - I'm not entirely sure if I'll be selling Red Steel, but if I did which of these Wii games do you think I should get instead? XP

1: Metroid Prime 3
2: Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles
3: Resident Evil 4
5: NiGHTS
6: Prince of Persia - Rival Swords

Admittedly, I haven't played all of them, but I'm going to say Metroid Prime 3.

Definite on numbers 1 and 3.

No go on number 5 and 6.

Number 3 depends on if you like linear arcade shooting type games (ex: House of the Dead).

Are you one of those people that buys games just from the title? Or because it looks cool?

Those are the only ones I really know about right now for the Wii that are supposed to be decent. =P Except NiGHTs, I don't know if that's supposed to be good or not. And I just have played a few of the other Prince of Persia games.

Red Steel was picked simply because it looked interesting.

Feel free to name some others though guys, if you want.

1 and 3. Also Mario Galaxy.

Other than that, just wait for Brawl.

1. Do Not Get Nights.

2. Never get a game based off name or how good it looks, you'll end up with a ton of crap games like that.

3. Here are my picks:
- Super Mario Galaxy
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl (wait for it)
- Metroid Prime 3
- Trauma Center (whichever one)
- Zack & Wiki
- Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution
- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

There a quite a few others and there are some you should get on the Virtual Console.

Red steel sucks. I had a friend who kept pestering me to get it. I almost did, but then I remembered his tastes are shit.

Brawl would be a good choice. Also, Trauma Center is fun, if hard.

People keep saying Twilight Princess.

Get the Gamecube version. That way, you don't have to put up with annoying waggly waggle bullshit.

I'll take the option to aim projectiles by just pointing where I want them to go over... well, shaking the wii remote to use the sword never really bothered me, so really, there's no down side the Wii version if you adjust to odd things like that easily.

The thing is, you rarely actually have to AIM at anything. You can usually just lock on. The only time I really aimed that much was with that one minigame where you had to use the clawshot to grab the walls/ceiling. And it's not like there's anything wrong with using a joystick to aim. It's not really that much harder than pointing, and if you've ever played another non-2D LoZ game, you know how to do it.

Oh, and then there's the stuff like shaking the nunchuck to do a spin attack and a few other stupid unnecessary things like that for special moves. So there's another thing to look at.

Really, if you don't mind waggle I guess it would be ok. But most people I know hate waggle. A lot. And since waggle-stabbing is FAR more prevalent than aiming, I'd say it's more of a consideration.

The only opinion I can put it in is that Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is total garbage. It's the only Wii game I've played and it really put me off the Wii.
Please, please, you give me too little credit.

Yes.

Generally, ignore ANY offshoots of major game series. This applies to ALL systems, but doubly for the Wii, because they always try to "Take advantage of the unique capabilities of the Wii". By that, they mean that they're going to ignore story and gameplay hoping that "innovative" controls will make up for it. Then instead of innovating with the controls they just use waggle.

That or make a rail shooter.

Exactly. It was complete rubbish and just wait and see when Link's Crossbow Training is out, that's going to suck too.

It will, but you know everybody's going to buy it. The sad thing is, even the crappiest Nintendo made games sell well. (ie. Mario Party)

This isn't to say that Nintendo products are generally bad, because they aren't (they're usually awesome); it's just that the fan base is so loyal that even their worst games sell well.

And then there are others, like myself, who don't really go based on title, because every Mario game isn't great. As a gamer you should never go buy a game based on title alone. There are only a few series you could do that with, Metal Gear and Zelda (that one game back in the 80s or 90s didn't count, it wasn't made by Nintendo).

The bad thing about that is you send Nintendo a signal, they'll think the game is good and they'll continue to make more. That's why there are so many Mario Party games(just an example).

Lord Shplane

Legends was bad? I never looked into it. But I figured it would. Any third-party game that gets ported to the Wii will suck. It either gets stripped of it's coolness and watered down or it will be an entirely different game all together.

Just look at Spiderman 3 on the Wii, then check it out for the Ps3 or 360. Totally different game.

To tell you the truth, I actually LIKED Mario Party up until the most recent game. You know, the one for the Wii? Yeah.

Also, another no miss series would be Ratchet and Clank. That and I think that Final Fantasy hasn't fucked up too badly (Though I hear Crystal Chronicles sucked).

Didn't that one come with a Mic or something?

Yeah, Ratchet and Clank has been doing pretty well since their start. Final Fantasy has been hitting and missing but most of the games Square Enix shells out ends up good so it's rare.

Crystal Chronicles wasn't all that bad, I liked it. Though, I only got to beat the first boss, I have to get the game back.

The Wii Mario party is basically like all the other Mario Partys: a fun game if you've got a group of friends and you're all just screwing around.

The problem is that, these days, it's just another in a big list of mini-game compilations dumped into the Wii. As far as mini-game bunches are concerned, it's one of the best tested, easiest to control, and most balanced. But, unfortunately, it doesn't bring anything new to the formula, so it's essentially just a better programmed version of stuff we were getting when the Wii launched.

Crystal Chronicles was another one of those games that was mediocre at best by yourself, but awesome with friends. Unfortunately, it also required everyone playing to not only have a Game Boy Advance, but also a GBA-GC link cable.

Square-Enix comes out with a lot of crap just like everyone else, but it's generally secluded to spinoff titles (some of the "Chocobo" games, some Dragon Quest spinoffs, etc.). Their meat and potatoes "main games" are usually pretty top notch, if a bit repetitive, gameplay-wise.

Oh GOD no. The minigame controls in Mario Party 8 were HORRID. That one game where you had to make the eye spin? And you had to go in a circle around it EXACTLY THE SAME DISTANCE THE ENTIRE TIME? And then the computer was so damn good at it. So the computer player ALWAYS WON the minigames because the controls were ridiculously hard to use.

Yes, it WAS still fun if you had a few friends around. Really though, my friends generally don't play Mario Party.

That, and I LIKED to play the earlier Mario Party games by myself. This one was just WAY TOO FUCKING HARD.

The thing about the Wii is that it was pretty much made be to played with friends. Everytime I hear about a game for the Wii, I almost always end up with 'it sucked, except when I was playing it with friends'. If it's single player only, it sucks, full stop.

No i think that mario galaxy proved that it is POSSIBLE to have a good single player game for the wii but ONLY if nintendo does it. i dare someone to prove me wrong.
