Who has it?

It's brilliant. Nothing like taking down 4 guys with my six shooter. It's put me in a western mood.

Discuss! And no spoilers. (Well spoilers but like, hide them if they are spoilers.)

I don't know if I want to get the game or not. I'm not a big fan of GTA games, but I really loved Bully. I'm not sure what the difference there was since they are essentially the same type of game, although I guess there was no car driving or gun shootouts in Bully, which are two of the things I find frustrating in GTA games. So I suppose if I hear it's more Bully-like I'd want to get it, and more GTA-like then I won't...?

It's pretty much like The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: The Videogame.

I recommend at least renting it. I hated GTA IV for the record and while it does have some similarities with it, it's a completely different game otherwise. And it's not like any of those other western games really stack up in comparison. :3

Heh, Did you guys know that a fellow DDer helped make this game? ;)

Tom Carroll.

I can't remember his DD nick, but he participated quite a bit in the Web comic challenge. He's a good guy. :)
He sent me an e-mail over a year ago about this game. I can't believe it's finally come out now AND it's a big hit. Amazing.

Good for Tom!

I got it!!! -this guy:

Mr Mustard Seed

and this was his comic:

Twonks and Plonkers

Show him some love ^_^

I once met a guy who was working at the time on Batman Begins: the game.

Oh, and I know loads of guys who worked on EVE online.

None of them are DDers, though.

Kinda have the same issue. Really want to try and play it but I still have few games I want to finish and not enough time to play them all.
Those were my two cents.

My advice for everyone who wants to or has not yet played it, or for everyone who's played it and hasn't been outside of the towns very much.

Beware of cougars.

And no, not this kind of cougar,

THIS kind of cougar.

Nothing like getting into a shootout with a bunch of gang members robbing a caravan than to have one of THESE jump out of nowhere and take your head off. You can usually hear them roar first, but sometimes they just stalk you and wait for you to slow down. And then can kill you and your horse with one attack. Worst situation was fighting off in sequence six wolves, three boars, two cougars, three MORE wolves, a songbird (yes, a song bird) and then before I can loot any of them another cougar ambushes me.

Great game though. Playing it now.

You have NO idea how often I've heard that cougar joke since this game has come out.

Y'wanna have some fun? Go to Tanners' Reach. The game spawns' like, 10 cougars at once. You will die painfully.

And here I though cougars only had a taste for Kim Bauer.

This all actually happened just north of McFarlane's Ranch. And while I can't know for sure how many times you've heard that joke, I'm sure it's alot :) .

That's alright, it doesn't get old. :P

Anyways, I've just gotten down to Mexico in the story. I won't say what happens incase anyone hasn't gotten there yet, but MAN is the opening cool. I wanna buy the soundtrack now!

(Does anyone have it for PS3?)

So, I'm assuming that cougars are the new deathclaws?

Nah, that would be bears. I haven't met a bear yet though...

Cougars would be like enclave troops (highest potential outright damage). Wolves would be Talon Company (low attack but common with numbers), Boars are supermutants (big, strong, but slow). Coyotes and bobcats are more of raiders and ghouls.

Thanks for translating who is what! So, I haven't yet gotten the game, must soon though, but I heard that it had better controls with horses and stuff than GTA 4 did with the cars. This true?

Sadly, yes. What killed GTA IV for me was terrible driving. These horses handle like a charm and the aiming is much more natural too.

Well... this didn't exactly help improve the gameplay either.
