Okay. I'm usually pretty quick on the draw when it comes to simple numbers, but the pageview counters in the Stats section of comics has me a bit baffled.
the numbers are always a factor of ten, so does it mean that the system rounds to the nearest ten place when determining how many people are reading? the highest? the lowest? is that final fiddly zero simply vestigial and it's actually not suppose to be there? is there some handbook i need to get to figure out how to interpret the numbers?
i thank you in advance for any help on the matter you may have.

The stats only record page views, not unique visitors.
The numbers round up to the nearest ten or down, depending on what they're closest to- but only for display. That's just to save on processing by the server apparently.
"Vestigial zero"? You mean on the end of the rounded number? ...No, that's supposed to be there. It's just rounded, as you already guessed :)
The numbers simply record each time your comic template is reloaded. If someone is going through all your archive in one go, then that will increase a lot. Your rank is determined by uniques visitors though, so an increase in pageviews from archive divers won't affect your rank. -Regular visitors all coming back to check out your latest page though WILL up your rank because they'll all be unique. ^__^
I hope that makes sense.

So if I get 51 pageviews it will come out 50 and if its 57 views it will come out 60?

meemjarYes, that's how the rounding works for the display.
So if I get 51 pageviews it will come out 50 and if its 57 views it will come out 60?
The real count will still be 51 or 57 of course. That just gives you a small margin of error when you look at it. When you have big page views in the hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands etc, then you don't really think about it so much.
