He was driving his car and had a heart-attack at the wheel and hit a tree.
He was rushed to the hospital but died of his injuries.
He had barely celebrated his 1st. anniversary with his new wife! :(
He was only 58.
I'm particularly saddened by this as Ihad patterned my first villain after him in my comic here on DD

I even jokingly said once that if in the unlikely event they were to do a live-action movie of Smorty Smythe I would endorse Randy Savage to play the character.

Side effect of steroids use is that you can die (relatively) young.
My apologies if he never used anabolic steroids. I'm working from memory that he admitted to using steroids at one time in past, like many professional wrestlers of those days.

He still had it and was just getting back on good terms with the WWE. It's a shame he couldn't be inducted into the Hall of Fame while he was still alive, he was truly one of the wrestling greats.

I grew up watching Macho Man and the rest of the then WWE cast. I don't think he was an exceptional wrestler or anything, but he was always entertaining.

He will be missed. I remember him mostly for his SlimJim ads, for I never had seen his stuff in WCW until much, much later. It was hard not to say the line once I found out the news. :/ I feel bad, and I'm sorry.
It would've been good to see him in the WWE again. Bret Hart being there again made me smile, regardless of the plotline behind it.
