I absolutely hate the term "race". It just seems to me that it implies that different color=different species. That's just crap.

Same here. It's an inherently stupid term, implying deeper differences than actually exist in any sort of realistic sense. I had this friend who used to say that there were only "4 races in the world"... Of course they were all made up of 19thC colour stereotypes: white people, black people, yellow people, and red people. If you didn't fit in those, that's because you were a mix of two of them.
Yeah, it was an imbecilic, childish theory, and he was an idiot.

Even the commonly used terms "black and white" are extremely problematic: Every single person world wide with dark skin are all part of one unified group? Every single light skinned person of European or Slavic origin are all the same? Hardly.

in the end it won't matter. the mixing of the different "races" is already underway and each passing generation of melting together will create a society of cohesivness unlike past societies.

after all, if we are all compatible...then it's not against nature.

it's within human nature that we use that compability to evolve the human race towards something better and to mold psychosocial attitudes towards judging a person by thier actions as an individual and not part of a collection of individuals.

Everyone's a bit racist, or has one or two racist thoughts, even if they're very trivial. They may not even be necessarily racist but thoughts directed to a single person or group of people. Then there's the matter of stereotypes, again of which everyone has some. As long as you know how to control these thoughts, be friendly and open-minded, you're alright.

Humans are animals and are therefore territorial. It's deeply ingrained.

I personally preferred subcultured's version because it wasn't as propagandist, shoving the racism card down my throat (and god knows I don't eat cards.) It just seemed more like a "Look at how many ethnic slurs I can juggle in ONE SCENE!" rather than a cohesive little story.

Personally, I've experienced some racism (and I'm white!!!!) and it made me despair a little. I try not to be racist, besides, fat jokes are so much more fun! (jk! I love everyone!! ) ok, ok, I make fun of my Japanese friend for momentarily lapsing into an Engrish accent, but it's ok because she knows I love Japan (and we're friends, dur!)!

actually, no... that's called "monochromasy" and it's really rare *adjusts glasses as she enters Geek Mode* by FAR the most common form of colorblindness is when you can't distinguish green from other colors, or red from other colors.
colorblindness runs in my family (in the men, because it's a problem with the X chromosome and since men have XY, it's more common for them to experience the effect of the faulty X chromosome. Women need to have both X chromosomes to be defective in order to be colorblind). I have a high chance of being a carrier, since it's a congenital defect and my uncles and little brother are colorblind. (It's so much fun telling my brother that things are orange when they're really green.... hehehehehehe. One time he told me that his favorite color was green, and I found that tragic.)

true story, too! So my mom's spanish, and my stepdad's italian. and when they had my little brother (Eric) we used to say to eric, "guapo, guapo, monicaco!" monicaco means like, a shrimp (not in the literal way! wow, I'm terrible at telling jokes!) so anyway, we were singing that to baby Eric one day, and my stepdad's mom, Nana, heard us and got all mad. We were like, "Nana, what's wrong?" and she was like, "please stop calling my grandson a wop!" hahaha!
Now she knows guapo means handsome.
