Okay I have a question for everyone. What makes my comic Sonic and the Demon Chaos so interesting? I mean it has been in the top 1000 from day 2. What is so interesting about it? I haven't been able to update it because it is a community project and I've had no replies for the next poster. I just don't get why this comic is doing really well and my other two, which I update at more regular times, have very little veiwers. PLEASE JUST TELL ME WHAT IS SO INTERESTING ABOUT IT!!!!!!

Well:
1. It's not too hard to get into the top 1000... usually, most comics outside of that range don't even update.
2. Maybe you just have faithful readers?
3. This might not be the right place for this type of thread (I really don't know, but I'm fairly certain).

Raven, I'm just wondering why it is so popular with is being only 6 days old. It is just a matter of why is it doing so well when it has been the same for 5. That and I waht to know what makes so people like it and not my other main comics. I just am curious to what is so attarctive about it.

...We do have a forum for plugging your comic.
Otherwise, it's probably because it's a community project and people like those. however, not only is it a community project, it's a sprite community project, so anyone can do it.

Getting up in the top 1000 isn't exactly hard, nor does it even remotely suggest that you have a sliver of talent. And by the look of your comic, you obviously don't.

Yeah, it really was. But what I saw was someone with no talent who was dipping very heavily into the "OMG! PPLZ REED MY STUF? IT MUST B AWSUM!" territory.

Ouch. That's kinda rude.
I think perhaps the comic is more popular then your others as it's based off something with a large fanbase. You have Sonic and Co as main characters so far, meaning people with and interest in sonic will at least look it over compared to perhaps and original idea.

I think you should justify saying something like that. If you think someone doesn't have talent, tell them how to get better - don't just bash them. I believe the term is "constructive criticism." Opinions are different than facts, and this statement comes off as trying to pass opinion off as a fact - which it isn't. "You have no talent" is very different from "I don't like your work," or "I don't like sprite comics." Notice the ownership in the two later statements - follow that up with some notes for improvement, and you're good to go.
###
I'll admit that I was also surprised by how quickly I got into the top 1,000 within the span of a week, but looking at the readership numbers they're still pretty low. I'm a patient person, however, and I also understand that many people don't read M-rated comics (not their cup of tea).
Personally, I think that if you're enjoying what you're doing and having fun doing it, then other people will enjoy it too. Bendis always says "write for yourself, don't write for other people - chances are, other people will like what you like," or something along those lines. Keep it up, buddy!

I do like it, but it is a community project and no one has signed up to do a single page since last Saturday. I can't do many more pages because I have a lot of work to do with my other comics and make-up work from school. I am just wondering why no one see my other comics that updoted pretty much daily but see SDC when it hasn't been updated in a long time, that is all.

A.)Sonic
B.)Megaman
C.)Sprites
I can guarantee I won't look at it. When I see an original idea with good art, I will fave it. Besides, even if I did like Sonic, that would be a better reason to not look at it. I don't want to see you bastardizing something I like with your fanfic. :/

Atom Apple, I do not basterdize the Sonic series. I am a long time Sonic game player and I have only the upmost respect for him. Read the comic, it has a deep story line that would put some of the webcomics I've seen to shame. I do this as something that people will like because the story is original, and it is incompasted by a wide range of complexities that you seem to forget to look for, it may not be long but it is very indebth. Soon the story will really be going and I want you to send me a PQ then and tell me what you have to say. And incase you havn't figured it out yet, your comments have really TICKED ME OFF.

Being in the top 1000 isn't a huge deal. I don't consider my comic incredibly popular and I'm usually within the top 100-200. It's not surprising to get a high ranking early. I got many comments when I first started, then lost a fair bit of interest after a few pages, then built it up again over time. People will want to check out a comic if it's new, just to see. Sprite comics come with their own fanbase. There are people here, most of whom make sprite comics themselves, who fave and read lots of sprite comics. This means that by making one you're likely to be read by all these people provided your comic is decently made and uses sprites from something lots of people have played (and Sonic has been around since the early 90's and is still very popular).
Unfortunately it's unlikely your comic will ever get hugely popular, simply because the downside to that ready-made audience sprite comics came with is that it's extremely rare to have any readers who aren't part of this 'spriting community'. That may sound unfair, but it's just the truth, people who read sprite comics read sprite comics and people who don't, don't. If you keep making srips, chances are you'll maintain a place in the top 1000 and have a decent number of readers and comments per page, but if you ever want to go beyond that and make something that'll get you into the top 100, you'll probably need to do something that's not with sprites.

Darth Mongoose, I have been watching my comic go up in ranks for the past few days and it has gone from 896 to 416 in four days and it still grows more popular daily. The real part of this forum is to figure out the specific part of the comic that is sending it up at the steady rate that it is going at. it appears to go up by 40 each day and I don't know why. Also do you have to give such long winded speeches in every single forum that you post in, I mean seriously it is always the biggest in each one, just wondering.

I write a lot because I can think of a lot to write about. I like to make it clear what I'm saying and cover all angles of an argument. It's not like I'm forcing anybody to read what I write, besides which, all I wrote was one paragraph. If you have a reading age of eleven or over, that should take you under a minute to read! Apologies to all the slow readers out there, but as I said, my posts are not compulsory reading. You may want to avoid the 'comic discussion' forums though. On there nearly everybody posts like me.

Oooooooooooh boy. Here we go again. Tis a small part of why I tried to avoid this community for the longest time. So many people lack any knowledge on quality or exactly WHAT a comic is. It's really sad considering this IS a comic site. People who read and spend any amount of time around comics should AT LEAST have a basic grasp of graphic design.
A comic is a visual medium used to tell a story. Note that it is a VISUAL medium. A comic has to at least some semblance of aesthetic quality in addition to its writing. Meaning you have to at least put some effort into making it look good.
HERE we have horrific Zero recolor man, bad colored MSpaint text, and bitmixing coming out the ass. It simply DOES NOT LOOK GOOD. Note that this is indeed fact, not my opinion.
Quality is not bound to anyone's opinion on anything. It is independant and exists regardless of what people think of something. Meaning something can in fact be utter garbage.
As for giving crit, I learned a long time ago that noone actually listens when you offer it, even if you try to be nice about it.

Okay the recolor is pretty good for a novice with ADHD. And the bit mixing is there because no one can find every sprite that you would need for this sort of thing in the same ratio. And the quality is some what bound to their opinion, some would call it now pretty good quality where as you call it crap. I do listen to constructive criticism because I like to improve where I can. Just remember that some thing are not possible and you should think more flexibly when it comes to a comic. again this is finding the main thing that attracts people to it; such as the cover, the story, the character, etc.; not a full crit, that is in the proper forum; I just want to make that clear.

Your personal issues do not come into play on whether or not it is any good. I judge you by the same standards as I judge everyone else. Unless you are some sort of subhuman failure at life, you will get no special treatment.
Someone

Then either look harder or make it yourself.
Someone
And the quality is some what bound to their opinion
No, quality is not bound to opinion. As I said before, a comic is a VISUAL form of storytelling. You've got to make attempts to at least TRY to make it look decent.
Someone
I do listen to constructive criticism because I like to improve where I can.
Then quit using "i ar adhd" and "i dun wana make\find sprit that luk gud together" as an excuse. Winners don't make excuses. They see problems and they don't go "I cannot fix this". No, they see a problem and say "How can I fix this?". All I'm seeing here is excuses.
Someone
Just remember that some thing are not possible and you should think more flexibly when it comes to a comic.
More excuses.
Someone
again this is finding the main thing that attracts people to it; such as the cover, the story, the character, etc.; not a full crit, that is in the proper forum; I just want to make that clear.
And I am stating that it has nothing to attract people to it. It's just another sprite comic. After a week or so, it'll be ignored like the rest of them unless you go all out and improve.

This is a community project, just to make that clear Rich, so bit mixing is bound to happen no matter what. Also quality is seperated into two catigories, perceptional quaility and opinionitative quality, your quality is the later. and you are one to talk.

FUN FACT: Bit mixing isn't the only thing I see going on here. I see a bunch of stuff that was obviously done by people who don't know how to make things look good. It being a community project is no excuse. If people can't make good shit, don't work with them.
Someone
Also quality is seperated into two catigories, perceptional quaility and opinionitative quality, your quality is the later.
Because something that looks to have been made in 30 seconds HAS to be good, I just cannot see it.
You are correct sir. I surely have my head up my ass. Your colored text and bright neon green recolors are absolutely the pinnacle of sprite based art. Your comic's difficult to follow appearance is just the result of me having my head up my ass, not your lack of ability to show what the hell is going on. Yes, you certainly have me beat there good sir. Yep, you sure did dun beat me.
