For me, I'd have to say:

The Coffin - a well written, well drawn 4 issue comic laid out perfectly for movies.

Scott Pilgrim - this is a great, funny graphic novel. Wikipedia says there's already a movie casted, but they have Michael Cera cast as Scott, and I don't believe he can pull that character off, so I hope that isn't the case.

The Hood - action packed super powers and stuff

The Killer - it's a story about an assassin that would turn out better than Hitman

Kick-Ass - would probably also turn out good.

I know there are some animations out there, but I've never seen them so I don't know how good they are. Heh, that reminds me to look for them on my next Amazon buying spree!

Sadly, I suspect any film of Druuna would probably stray faaaar into campy Barbarella territory! Not that I mind Barbarella, but ... you know. It's of its time and definitely not the right tone for Druuna!

I wouldn't mind seeing someone take a shot at making a film from Neil Gaiman's two short Death books, The Time of Your Life and The High Cost of Living. I think if you combined the two plots you could just about have enough material for a good movie.

I agree... and, it would save us from the "hey, let's make a comic from our failed movie pitch so that hollywood picks it up... it worked for 30 Days of Night, right?" kind of comics.

If it's a good comic, it means it does well what comics do well (and thus probably would suffer in translation). If it's a bad comic... well, making a movie out of it won't help much anyway..

whenever i hear that a comic i like is going to be turned into a movie, i get nervous. so i think im gonna have to agree with these guys. BUT if there was some magical guarantee that that everything would be in the right hands and done extremely well, i'd wanna see the Judge Dredd movie remade.maby this time with the dark judges or something. once again, only if it came out immaculate, other wise, dont touch it. i saw a link the other day that there's a Lobo movie in the works and i just about ralfed.i DO NOT want to see what hollywood would do to the Main Man. i really.fucking.DONT! but some college kids made a pretty kick as Lobo flick once,so that's fine for me. i also didnt get to click on the link cause my comp froze, im kinda weary about going back and finding it.

Well, since this thread is all about dreaming, I'm going to dream they do it right. I would definitely love to see a movie (heck, a trilogy) about the New Gods. I guess they would have to blow something like $500 million bucks on it, but hey, we're dreaming.

Dark Knight was awesome, Iron Man was great, Incredible Hulk was pretty cool, I'm not a big fan of Xmen, but the first 2 movies were OK, same goes to Spiderman...I still have to watch Watchmen to make an opinion, but is not like every comic franchise has been horrible in movies...Even back in the day, both Superman movies and Tim Burton's Batman were really good...

With a good writer and director, a great cast and enough budget, you can take any comic and turned into a cinematic masterpiece.

I would like to see in movies:

Blue Beetle, I've became a huge Jaime Reyes fan since the latest DC's revival.

A Green Lantern Trilogy, the first movie being an origin movie (with Hal Jordan), the second one being the begginig of his transformation into Parallax and the 3rd, one the battle between Parallax (Hal Jordan) and the last Lantern (Kyle Rayner).

Preacher. That could work better as a mini-series than as a movie (even as a movie series).

Mouse Guard. that could be cool into an animated film, either in 3D CGI or traditional animation.

nolan and DC should stop fucking around and just make a freaking DKR movie already.

I'd be all over a Scott Pilgrim movie if it was done in a 2-D flash-style animation like Kim Possible or those insurance commercials with the pink-haired secret agent. No such luck though. Live action. What's so great about live action anyway?
The only other comic can think of that I'd like to see as a movie is Blue Monday, 'cause it was a really fun story and it might not suck as live action.
The trouble with turning a really great comic into a movie is that the best ones try to create an experience that can only be achieved in comics. Because of this movie adaptations have an unfortunate tendency to fall short.

As stated in earlier posts, these possible movies that I am about to sugest exist in a magic fairyland where the people making them did everything right.

Bone - How awesome would it be if they pulled this one off. It's be kind of obnoxious to see Bone plastered all over every product in my supermarket for a summer, but if the movie was good I'd consider it worth it.

Local - This would probably work better as a mini-series on HBO or FX or something. But, well, a movie would work too.

Silverfish - I think this one would translate to a movie pretty easily.

The Eternals - Somebody alreadt suggested The New Gods, so I'll go with Jack Kirby's other 70's comic book about cosmic deities. I always felt that it was the underappreciated of the two.

Torso - I think this one will turn out pretty well. I'd like to see some of Bendis' other noir stories get the green light, especially Goldfish.

I'll also nominate a couple of comics that have already become movies. However, somebody needs to do them again and not screw it up this time.

Howard the Duck - It will never happen, but if they try this again I'd like to see it fit Steve Gerber's intent.

The Spirit - This could be a really good movie. Really.

Swamp Thing - I'm a sucker for the Alan Moore run. I'd like to see someone do a Swamp Thing movie reflective of that period in the title's life.

I'd guess a Sandman movie wouldn't be all that profitable, but it would certainly be interesting.

Also, The Darkness, The Goon or Grendel, that'd be cool.

We need more 'darker/serious' comic-movies.

The Luna Brothers "The Sword" has been a pretty engaging read so far and I wouldn't mind seeing this turned into a made for TV mini-series. Cecil Castellucci and Jim Rugg's "The Plain Janes" is another that I think has potential.

They already tried to make a Bone TV series that would be incredibly dumbed down and aimed at younger children. IIRC the creator hated the idea and convinced them to back out of it. Been a while since I read the story.

I lost track of the story somewhere down the road, but I'll always remember that badass dragon who smoked and that furry bug eyed monster who wanted to make Fone Bone into a quiche.

The Chick tracts. They'd make a really freaky movie :)

Something like 350+ monthly's if I remember right. I thought I'd heard about some crazy idea for an actual Bone movie at some point though.

I thought the Highlander was better than the short story it was based off of. I also thought Die Hard worked better as a movie than Nothing Lasts Forever worked as a book.

I just finished reading "i kill giants" and that just screamed "Make me into a movie that's difficult to market" the entire time through

I'm pretty sure Y: The Last Man would work as a movie.

It's got intelligent themes, likeable characters and enough action scenes to keep the popcorn-munching crowd happy.
