Hi gary2003! :)
I'm not sure on which console is better but, Lord Shplane and Terminal in the Game Room have some strong opinions that must be read to believe. That forum has tons of threads on this topic and many other game related topics. You might want to check it out. :)

I just bought a 360 yesterday and I love it (add me)!!! And I also love my PS3 (add me)! And Wii is... well... No More Heroes was ultra badass and MadWorld looks amazing!
So to you answer your question, no.

From what I can see, the PS3 is a better system, but not better enough to justify the price difference. Besides, the Xbox has better online.

A guy could weigh all sorts of little factors like online costs, failure rates, processor power, controllers, and more... but when it comes down to it you're going to get the one that has the games you want. By the time Little Big Planet comes out I'll have them both. Until then I'm not picking a favorite.

Besides, the Xbox has better online.
A lot of people who don't have both make that claim. I find the only real difference between the two, however, is that Live has a universal friends list (something that may be added to PSN with Home) and more lag than the PSN. I don't really see $50 a year to be worth that one feature, especially when they limit the potential of online gaming by forcing most developers to stick to P2P networking instead of allowing them to use dedicated servers.

I think they both have their strong points and weaknesses. Kind of hard to pick one.

It's because the right console hasn't been offered up for discussion yet.

I think it's because nobody whose posted so far has a very strong opinion about either console in relation to the other. You need someone who's annoyingly for and/or against one of the systems to get much out of it.

Does the ps3 even have any games exclusively for it?
Never seen one.

I believe Metal Gear Solid 4 is also only for the PS3.
As for my opinion, a console is only as good as its games. And whether a game is good or not is totally dependent on the gamer who wants to buy that game. Both are good consoles, so it's just a matter of what games you want to play on them.
Now if Resident Evil 5 was exclusive to the PS3 then...

I believe Metal Gear Solid 4 is also only for the PS3.
As are Resistance (1&2), Lair, Ratchet and Clank, Folklore, Disgaea 3, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Gran Turismo, Motorstorm (1&2), Warhawk, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy vsXIII, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, Valkyria Chronicles, White Knight Story, God of War 3, Tekken 6, Socom, Heavy Rain, Afrika, Angel Rings, Jak and Daxter, and Shin Megami Tensei, among others.

Yeah, aren't all the Final Fantasy games exclusively for the Playstation consoles?
Most of the new, numbered games in the series come out exclusively for PS. FFXI was ported to the Xbox not too long ago, but that's the online one, so take that as you will. The spinoff games aren't loyal to any particular platform, though, and all of the old games end up rereleased on all kinds of systems.

Personally?
I prefer the PS3. The games, graphics, online feature and overall quality just sits better with me. I've no argument that the Wii and 360 aren't very good consoles though.

I was a crazy 360 fanboy, but honestly gaming is just fun. I think I just picked a side to make the console war more interesting for me. It's sort of like rooting for a sports team, and yet it's much sadder.
Don't get me wrong, I still like my 360, but if I had the PS3, I'd still have just as much fun.
I always find PC games more addictive. The crowd that uses their mics usually seems much more mature (with the big exception being counter-strike), so teamwork becomes more fun.
Would I trade my 360 in for a PS3? No. I don't care enough to switch consoles. It would be the same way if I had a PS3 instead.
I will say this. If you're playing the orange box on either of the consoles, you're missing out. TF2 is amazing on large PC servers.

When all the trees have been cut down,
when all the animals have been hunted,
when all the waters are polluted,
when all the air is unsafe to breathe,
only then will you discover you cannot eat money.

My 360 is down to two games, far less than any other system I own, and has not been turned on in over a month for anything other than watching an HD-DVD a couple of weeks ago. My PS3 has been getting pretty frequent use lately and mostly for gaming since I picked up the new home theater system. The 360 has absolutely nothing that makes it seem like a superior system to me, right now. If I want PC games, I'll get them for the PC. If I want multi-platform games, I'll get them for the PS3 where I don't have to turn the volume up to drown out the noise the system makes and I don't have to worry about the frequent and extremely annoying mid game DREs. Both systems have their problems, but right now, the 360's problems are far worse in my opinion. I also find that while the PS3's library seems to be improving and has a lot of interesting titles on the horizon, the 360's seems to have fizzled out and has very few prospects to look forward to.

I'm a HUEG RPG fan, and while the 360 has some RPGs (Eternal Sonata, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey), there's still not enough. While the PS3, being a favourite of Japanese game developers, it's destined to get RPGs pooped out near constantly, like the PS2.
And I like the fact that the PS3 uses Blu-Ray instead of regular DVDs, giving developers working on the PS3 the opportunity to make bigger games (Although, IIRC only Konami has used the full 50GB on the Blu-Ray with MGS4). And that PS3 games have the potential to load faster because ALL PS3s have hard drives, thus allowing games to install themselves onto the PS3, reducing noise as well. Unlike the 360 which offers the Xbox 360 Arcade(only dumb people buy that, IMO), a 360 WITHOUT a hard drive, forcing developers on the 360 not to offer installation onto HDD due to the fact not every 360 has one (although I think Halo 3 somewhat does it, but it's not enough to silence the 360's incessant noise).
Obviously, I like the PS3 better, but hypocritically, I have a 360 instead of a PS3. But I'll get one soon, Disgaea 3 comes out next month and I'm DYING to play MGS4. :P
