Fugly Charlie have you considered building a giant mind control beam and firing it at the city to turn everyone into your comic reading slaves?
I think super villainy is definitely the way to go in promoting your comic!

Actually Hark, subliminal messaging across mass-media has proven to be much more effective than mind control beams. Shows how much you know about evil villainy.

Jackwriter, I think some kind of special fire works that create images of your comic in the sky over major cities in Germany.

SpyKat, you should use some sort of microchip, implanted in the brains of babies, so they grow up into comic reading zombies.

Bffsatan, don't spoil my fun! I love this thread!

I think the best way to promote burtonville is to print advertisements on toilet paper and tampons. It'll be read for sure and the commercial has a use afterwards too!

Super Bowl commercial!
Americans will buy anything you advertise during the Super Bowl!
By definition, if you advertise it in a Super Bowl it must be SUPER!

I assume your comic is about gladiator. Have you tried showing it to gladiators? Or maybe Russel Crowe.

I'm reviving this thread because I think it's a great idea. I hope someone remembers that it's here. 83

Obviously mine is http://www.drunkduck.com/War_of_the_Dogs/
Or the banner link.

I'm really bad at tailoring to genres and demographics, so have fun with this one...

(Also, the latest comic is just a 'break' page, obviously)

Yeah, I know this thread is old as hell, but if anyone wants to point out some ideal comics for Modest Medusa (link in sig) to advertise on, or help me figure out my primary audience, I'd be very greatful.

I'll do you if you do me. XP

Personally, I'd put it in the 'cute things that aren't otherwise cute' category, which I know is possibly a bigger thing in Japan, but still a niche none the less.
I'd definitely peg it to anyone who likes mythology and also cuteness. And probably to gamer nerds who prefer quirky comics to 'gaming' comics.

And nagas. (But not Snapesnogger)

If you want a suggestion for another webcomic I'd put in that category, it would be kawaii not
( http://www.kawaiinot.com/ )
You should advertise there.

Thanks!

First off, your comic is awesome. Fast and easy to read. I was into it by the 3rd page. I'd recommend this comic for people who like their comics sexy and mean.

I'm afraid I can't recommend any places for you to advertise yet, but I'll put somethought into it. I'm sure there's lots, but I'm pretty new to webcomics so I'm not sure where to point you.

Well I can't say a whole lot about it, because you only have 4 pages so far.

From what I do see, I'd guess people who like biblical history seems like a pretty obvious choice. I don't know any comics like that though, mostly because I'm not actually one of them. XD;

Ha, 5 pages now! Yeah that's exactly why I don't know how to pitch this thing. I think I can spin this into a really interesting story, but I think people generally look the other way when they see anything influenced by scripture...

I've had my comic up for a few months but only now am I getting it enough together to consider advertising. Head to http://ceeandbee.com to see the complete package.
It's a PG rated, international adventure comedy about two very different sisters. Think Tintin with a splash of Love and Rockets.

All opinions welcome.

This could potentially be a really useful thread, but there's too much "I'm curious, check out my comic, BYE!" going on and not enough "Also let me respond to someone else's comic." :]

JillyFoo
What you do is:

Post your comic.

And repliers post

-what kind of people would go for your comic
-some web comics similar to yours that have ads at their site
-what you should have on your ads to attract the audience

ShadowsMyst has just posted a new thread intended for more focused people, but the casual thread is I think still useful... IF people participate more fully! Can we save this thread, or is it worth starting anew?

I tried to start a thread like this a while ago too. Didn't work out.
And ShadowMyst's thread hasn't got anyone posting yet; it probably never will despite being a good idea.
I don't know what it is, but for some reason people are drawn to this thread, and for the most part just posting in it not reading anything.

Actually I liked what Harkovast had going on here a while ago. Can we just go back to that?

Feliq- Turn your comic into some kind of cult/religion wiht the main commandment being to read your comic often.

Worldtakertkalamov- Promote your comic with lasers. Lasers are cool.

Meemjar- A time capsule contianing information about your comic, buried in your garden will mean people will keep reading it long after you die, when archeologists dig it up.

Skoolmonkee- Hijack your own news threads to plug your own work.

BFFsatan- If you are such good friends with satan, jsut make a deal with him!

http://www.drunkduck.com/Keeping_Up_with_Thursday/

- it is (or is gonna be, past the flashback/history of Issue 2), gonna be like Disney's/Eve Titus' Great Mouse Detective series with a bit of Indiana Jones meets Oliver Twist, and whatever else good criminal movies I happen to have.

Can't really seem to connect with the GMD fanbase one way or the other, lol. Gonna need to find another route to take, or just play it by ear. xD

http://www.drunkduck.com/ZombieToons_MUST_DIE/

- (will eventually) get into cartoon zombies invading Los Angeles and detailing several characters survival. Focusing mostly one one character at a time for people to get to know them first, though, before the zombies do arrive. Once everyone's met and shook hands, then we get to the good stuff.

Oh, cool! I like the premise on this one; a comic based on a virus that could lead to some interesting changes in characters lives. It looks like it could attract anyone that likes a good story piece, with some unique humor - leaving to a lot of fun story arcs in the future, if you continue it. :)

You've got an art style in nicely formatted pages; it kinda reminded me of a near realism, almost Tim Burtony-sorta color scheme going there.

Those who like intellectual comics with the art to back this one up with could really like this one. ^^
