Alright! This is only my opinion for Emerald City. Others can tell what they think too. I'm really no expert on marketing so if anyone wants to pitch in no prob with me.
Emerald City is a crime fighting and super natural comic set in Seattle.
Potential audience:
People that are interested in Crime genres, and Fighting (horror style characters zombies, maybe vampires). It's set in Seattle so if you are from there or go to a comic con there, there might be people interested for that reason. There's some gang stuff in there too so it can play up to the rap interest group.
I think mostly guys age 13-?? would be interested in this due to its violence and lack of slap stick comedy or romance(which kids and ladies like).
The style is Western so American comic cons would be good to show these at, not so much the anime/manga con followers.
Some web comics that are similar to Emerald City could be:
Paradigm Shift http://dynamanga.net/ [dynamanga.net]
This comic has crime fighting cops and super natural crimes involving werewolves set in Chicago.
It is manga style but it has similarities in it's lack of humor, action, and mature crime scenes. There is PW advertising there.
There was another crime fighting/investigating one that was on the buzzcomix horror section but I can't find it for the life of me right now. It used to be right in the top ten...
If you're going to have more drugs and gangster stuff try looking for comics that have that. I don't know any off hand.
On your ads: If it's predominately cops fighting crime make it obvious in the picture the character is a cop (gun uniform what not). Since your comic mostly has action see how you can put in a frame of action in there speedline, flouting in the air particles, etc. I think that would be pretty good for advertising at places like PS.

Um, I don't know, samurai perfect is pretty cool... I'd think fans of epic stories amd action would like your comic. I don't know what you should have on your ads, but uh, some similar-ish comics would definitely include http://www.drunkduck.com/Star_Crossed_Destiny, and i don't know which others. Maybe you could work out a deal with them? Maybe advertise for eachother? This is just a suggestion.

First, I think this is a great idea. :) Comic creators can develop "blinders" about their own comic, so they don't really see it the way the public might. I, personally, can't seem to figure out what comics have similar readers to my stuff or pin down effective places to advertise...
I think The Amazing Superteam appeals most to people who enjoy quick and witty punchlines and that whole simplified style thing. The humor and style I think would appeal to fans of comics like Heaven vs. Hell and Frank and Vinny . I think cross-advertising with these comics would hit the right fan base.
People who enjoy old school superhero comics (and superhero comic parodies) would probably also get a kick out of The Amazing Superteam. I'm not too familiar with superhero comics, but Adventures of Superchum and The Superfogeys are two examples off the top of my head. The latter has a Project Wonderful spot available.

If anyone has enlightening tips for Used Books , I'd definitely appreciate it. :)

Ok
http://www.drunkduck.com/Samurai_Perfect/
-what kind of people would go for your comic
Manga fans, Samurai and Japanese stuff fans, Action. I say mostly guys would be into it, shonen fans.
-some web comics similar to yours that have ads at their site
One I know well offhand is No Need For Bushido
Others that have advertising...advertise at manga related sites. Comics that have ninjas or samurai.
-what you should have on your ads to attract the audience
Show your best work in the ad. You can probably use sex appeal with your characters. The bandage girl to attract a male audience or your main samurai character to attract a more female audience.
Ateam got a pretty good look at by Usedbooks.

-what kind of people would go for your comic
Oh man a well-drawn fan-comic. Basically anyone that loves The Nightmare Before Christmas will at least want to take a look at your comic(as long as the characters are canon and it stays true to the original which it does.) Goth character fans, maybe horror, Kingdom Hearts fans maybe.
-some web comics similar to yours that have ads at their site
Charby the Vampirate
Has the cute horror theme characters
-what you should have on your ads to attract the audience
Showcase your best character designs(the Pumpkin Prince I'm thinking) Preferably in color.
Next: http://www.drunkduck.com/Attach_This/
Aw gee this is a tough one. People that are into abstract works. People that read sprite comics maybe. Gag comic readers. People that read more for the dialogue than the art(see comics like this.)
-some web comics similar to yours that have ads at their site
I actually don't know of any comics offhand like yours that have buyable ads.
Perhaps try to advertise at the more main stream webcomic sites like comicspace.com or onlinecomics.net
similar comics might be 1/0, Chronicles of A, Penis, well written sprite comics. http://www.thechroniclesofa.com/
what you should have on your ads to attract the audience
"Attach this" has a nice ring to it. Perhaps play something off that.
I ran out of time for posting. I'll be back later. If anyone else wants to pitch in. Fine by me. I'm no expert.

I'm back and got an half and hour to spare!
Penis...
-what kind of people would go for your comic
The kind that don't mind offensive, dirty jokes, dry humor(there is a lot of good dry humor in there) and simple artwork.
Also people that are fans of Marine's antics and silliness.
-some web comics similar to yours that have ads at their site
Once again I'm not sure... There isn't many comics quite like Penis.
This is a flash cartoon called Tomorrow's Nobodies that has random humor similar to penis. http://www.tomorrowsnobodies.com/
But still not quite like Penis.
-what you should have on your ads to attract the audience
The word "Penis a great comic" says all
Werewolf
I heard you were going to bring Werewolf back to Penis. But..
-what kind of people would go for your comic
Werewolf fans and fans of penis.
The rest I can't think of anything off hand I wonder if Dirk would approve of Werewolf ads at Paradign Shift.
Next:

Ooo a drawn pokemon comic! It's a fan comic, so find those pokemon, digimon, any mon fans and you're set.
-some web comics similar to yours that have ads at their site
Pokemon... There isn't any I know offhand that have adds
Best bet is to post on a few Pokemon forums and have a cute banner linking your comic. Link exchange with every Pokemon webcomic you can find.
-what you should have on your ads to attract the audience
Show your best work of pokemon drawings in color and make sure you don't have pokemon sprites in there because many readers avoid sprites.
I ran out of time. See you later.

what kind of people would go for your comic
Looking at the banner sig before clicking I thought it was a yaoi comic.
It's actually more of goth magic, girl in another world, shojo, fantasy, manga.(A whole lot of things put into one) Strangely there is quite a bit of female nudity in there too. :nervous:
Manga , romance, fantasy, shojo, and romantic-yaoi-that-has-a-story fans would be good to look for.

Fantasy manga comics with ads are easy to find:
We have...
http://www.drowtales.com/index.php
http://redstring.strawberrycomics.com/
http://inverloch.seraph-inn.com/
(I'm just going down the list at PW...)
-what you should have on your ads to attract the audience
In a webcomics world flooded with manga...how do you advertise. Well what's unique about Contemporary Eclipse? Just slightly browsing through... was there hints of S and M in there? :nervous: A girl with a collar? :nervous: If you're going to have that or it's going to be more of a part of the story, maybe advertise that.
I'm out of time again. I'll be back later. Anyone can pitch in really.

yes lots of female nudity and the S&M themes will become more and more apparent later XD so ok, I'll go for that, see what I can do about adding chains or something to my banners *suddenly has ideas!*

-what you should have on your ads to attract the audience
Best work of a character in a dramatic/exaggerated pose.

A bunch of characters based after movies gag comic.
I guess people who like pop culture strips.

http://www.theaterhopper.com/

I don't know.. where do I begin? There's a lot of manga webcomics that have advertising. Just look at the sites I suggested for flyingwind66.

There isn't much there yet for me to really pick out what is so different about MS compared to tons of manga webcomics out there already. If you want your ads to attract a staying audience maybe have a few more chapters out before you go out and spend money on ads. Get to the point in the story that separates your story from other stories.
Chimera
-what kind of people would go for your comic
I remember Chimera. It has changed a lot since I last saw it. The style has really changed, but you still keep that Read from Right to Left.
I'm sure since you kept it this far in the road you don't want to hear any argument so I won't bother past this post. Having it that way pigeonholes Chimera as a manga comic despite your effort to change the drawing style. So what I'm saying is, it might be harder to get readers past the manga fan base with that style of reading unless you plan to make Chimera into a language that reads that way. (but who knows, perhaps your good art and storytelling will make up for that.)
-some web comics similar to yours that have ads at their site
Chimera is more of a Japanese base manga so..
No Need for Bushido and Redstring are some I know offhand. Crowfeathers might be good. Also just check out any of the sites I recommended to flyingwind66.

JillyFooI've been kicking myself for the past year for thinking it was a swell idea to make the comic right-to-left. I've been debating on whether or not to change the formatting. Seeing how far along I am, would it be a good idea to change it now, or would it just confuse people even more? I don't want to do it if it's just going to give people one more thing to criticize. :X

Two ways come to mind.
You can do what the American manga companies used to do with manga and mirror your old comic pages. ...The art might be a little kooky though.
Otherwise...
Does Chimera go by chapters or parts? Get to an end part/chapter in your comic and then have the new chapter go left to right. (And when/if you come out in print, print a right-to left-book(1) and the next book(2) be a left-to-right. So at least if/when you come out in print it won't be so confusing.)

It goes by chapters. Yeah, I'll probably do what you suggested (I'll be starting a new chapter soon anyway), but I'd rather not have to go back and mirror all the past pages, because it'd probably end up being far more trouble than it's worth.
