I don't know how many folks on DD are interested in becoming illustrators for a living, but for those who are, this is my current 2010 illustration portfolio to look at as an example of what an illustration portfolio can look like. Not all illustrators portfolio's look like this, and mine is in fact somewhat unusual, but it's an example of how to present your work to a client and hopefully earn some money doing something you love. The portfolio is designed as an 8'x10' 'zine that can be mailed to an art director with my business card attached. The cover is printed on a high-quality Rives BFK printmaking paper, and all the interior spreads are printed on standard gloss paper. It's 8 pages including both covers, however for the purpose of showing you guys, I've removed the page with my contact info ( I know you're all responsible human beings, but who wants to risk 3 am phone calls just to be informed that the cake is a lie? ).
Keep in mind, that this is a direct copy of the files for the 'zine, so it's not intended to be presented as a digital file.
If people like this and want to learn more about becoming a full-time illustrator, I'll be more than happy to just turn this into a sort of "ask an expert" Q & A thing.
