A pair of cute robots star in Valve's team-focused twist on the Portal formula.

The single-player campaign's only twice as long? Jesus, that's crap.

I realise that it's difficult to weave a cogent plot without repeating puzzle-types across a greater length of

time, but I figured on it being three times as long at least.

I finished the first game on first play-through in about four hours.

So, I'm gonna be able to finish this new game in eight or nine hours, am I? It'll last me two days, then.

If this is a £50/$60 release, that's not good enough.

I'm gonna need another reason to buy it.

By which I mean another reason *IN ADDITION TO* the co-op, mode.

I won't always have a second person to play with, which means it doesn't count as core content in my book.

Ever hear of quality over quantity? There isn't a single adventure game (that I can think of) with over ten hours of gameplay. It doesn't mean they're bad, they're just short. Also, one of the greatest games ever made, Out Of This World is about 3 hours long, give or take.

Agreed, if the only complaint about the game is it's too short...then that really isn't a complaint at all, is it? Because it's so good, you want more. That's what good designers can do to you.

And come on, it's Portal. I've never seen anyone that calls themselves a gamer say something bad about this game. If they did, they're inhuman - probably from an alien world genetically encoded to hate games in general.

I can understand a guy wanting Portal 2 to be fun, innovative, and especially LONG. When I finished the first one in three hours I was sad and I wanted more. We just have to hope that Valve cuts the game off right before it stops being fun.

I can understand why someone would be concerned about the length of this kind of game. It's basically a puzzle game more than it is a shooter. There isn't much in the way of replay value. Plus, the original was more of a bonus than a full game. It wasn't supposed to be a stand alone title, just a neat little add-on for the Orange Box release. If they want it to work as a full-priced standalone game, they need to offer a lot more content than the first one. I don't think they need to break the bank and match what the first one came with (Half Life 2, Team Fortress 2, and the Half Life episodes), but simply doubling up the content does seem a bit cheap considering Portal had an expanded version which was still DLC that went for $15.

Yeah you really can't expect much length from a game like that.
Besides, Half Life 2 episode 1 last me 3 hours. Episode 2 lasted 6.

I've played Portal for 12 hours.

So yeah.

Besides the co-op will be fun, I'll probably replay it a few times with different people. It's just as long as the actual 1 player I believe, so with co-op and with single player, that's quadruple the length. So personally I will indeed be getting the game, as the first one was so top shelf.
And yeah, quality > quantity

Another great idea would be L4D style versus.
Here are the controls
Turret: Left Click to shoot. Right Click to say something creepy
Camera: Left Click to be detached from the wall. Right Click: N/A
Companion Cube: Left click to be a cube. Right Click to be a companion.
Button: Left Click to be pressed, Right Click to not be pressed.

The aim of Versus is to get through to the end of the game.
THIS NEW SITE SUCKS I'M LEAVING FOREVER I PROMISE, GUYS.
NOT BLUFFING, I'M GONE IF YOU DON'T FIX IT.
Oh god I'm so alone someone pay attention to me

What button threatens to stab the player to death?

Yeah, one nice thing about a game like Portal is that it's opened up for plenty of UGC. There's some decent packs floating around, and I'm betting this second one will incorporate that same feature.
