I'm getting kind of sick of them repeating the same formula over and over again with these games. Pokemon could be something much better than what it is. Right now it's just Nintendo's cash cow. Extremely low production values and repetitive gameplay. I would love to see them actually use some of the potential of the DS to make these games shine. Maybe replace the static images with animated 3D models or something. Why is it that one of the biggest money-makers from the company consistently looks worse than anything else they put out?

I believe they're using the, If it ain't broke, don't fix it, method.
They do try to do new Pokemon stuff from time to time whether it being Pokemon Revolution or Pokemon Mystery Dungeon... but when it comes down to everything, people still find the original gameplay more suitable. Ain't that right, every Nintendo franchise?
But good for Nintendo, Yellow was probably my favorite of them all. I remember Pikachu couldn't evolve unless you moved 'em to a different cartridge.

That's not exactly how it works with all Nintendo franchises. With everything else, their games at least improve graphically when they move to new systems. Pokemon hasn't really changed in the presentation department since the original. It started with still images of pokemon with overlayed effects and it continues with that same presentation format two generations later. The only thing they've added to the combat system is color. The world map may have some half-assed 3D, but it doesn't even come close to the quality seen in other 3D games on the DS. If anybody tried to make a new game with the same level of presentation, nobody would buy it.
It's not like Nintendo doesn't have the manpower or money to pull off a game with a little more flash, either. Hell, they could just recycle models from the Stadium series for all I care. The original worked great for a low resolution hand held with four colors, but why does it seem like they are making the new games with the same limitations in mind? They have better hardware and four times the space the N64 had to work with, but can't come up with anything at least on par graphically?

I can actually think of a LOT of ways to advance the Pokemon franchise, which is why it surprised me that the Diamond and Pearl were so unchanged from previous versions. It was still fun, but man.... wasted potential.

And then I traded it to my brother so he could use that yellowstone thing, because I thought I'd have a Raichu following me.

I can even think of ways to make a Pokemon MMO work on the Wii while keeping many of the core game play elements, but dropping the turn-based combat in favor of something more friendly towards an online experience. I doubt we'll ever see anything like it, though. Honestly, though, the system I'm thinking of could easily be used for a standard single-player Pokemon title on either the Wii or the DS, as well.

They're bringing the battle frontier back. Giratina also has a cool new form. I should enjoy this.

For some odd reason, after playing Blue, silver, crystal, pinball, stadium, snap, the card game(game boy and real) and diamond, I'm a little tired of pokemon...don't think I'll be buying platinum.
