Just saw Pirates 3. Without hearing a buncha whiney crap about spoilers, the words "anti-climactic" come screaming to mind.

The one saving grace is that there's almost a rape scene with Keira Knightly. It took them 3 movies about pirates to FINALLY have the obligatory rape scene in one of them. I don't care if it is Disney! You can't do a proper pirate movie without a rape scene. It'd be like a Spider-Man movie without Peter taking his mask off in broad daylight for no explained reason in full view of anyone with an open window.

Oh, and stay until after the credits for the patented "omake ending".

What is Pirates 3 about anyways?

This is the first time ever that I don't know what a popular summer action movie is about.

I think its about like the end of all piracy and resurrecting Jack Sparrow or something crazy like that. I just hope it doesn't suck like the second one.

Didn't you read the subject line? It is apparently about rape. I find it extremely odd that that's pretty much all there was to say about it, but there you go.

Rape.

Its about the East India Company controlling Davy Jones and trying to destroy all the pirates. And the quest to bring Sparrow back to life.

I really liked Pirates 3, yes there is almost a rape scene, but its all of 10 seconds long. All in all its a great movie, a bit long. But really good.

Wow. If a near rape scene is the best thing about the movie, I think I'll pass on it.

WOW! It was GREAT! I found the first two movies very overrated, but this one was just fantastisc. It's a part 3 so no one will agree with me when I say that this is the best movie of all 3. The action was cool, the humor was funny, the story was more interesting, the music was very well placed (except that Once Upon a Time in the West-like thingy, that was just stupid!), the atmosphere was better and this one had waaay better visuals. And ofcourse the acting was great again. The one thing that did suck so much was the romance. Belgh!

Here's my opinion.

One thumb up....

Two thumbs up.....

And if I had a second set of hands they would do that too.

*notices title* Is it bad that I didn't really consider the almost-rape scene an almost-rape scene, but just a normal evil-villain-love....thing?

It's a little impossible to do a movie about pirates, much less THREE MOVIES about pirates, and not have at least ONE rape scene in it. They covered all the other pirate stereotypes in the previous movies: swordfighting, treasure hunting, swashbuckling, zombie pets, wenches, REALLY GAY LEADING MEN, etc., but no rape scene!

You do know it based off a ride in Disney land right?

oh yeah lets turn the sex object girl into more of an obvious sex object. thats a good reason to see a movie. not.

pirates are best when pillaging, talking funny, and drinking. not raping.

Okay I asked a friend who'd seen this about the "rape scene". He said it wasn't really that kind of scene. The pirate tried to kiss the girl, and then he gets blown through the side of a ship or something. The whole scene takes like a minute apparently.

So yeah, while Pirates 3 may be a bad movie for other reasons, let's not obsess over this one point, okay?

Hey, so I just saw this movie last night. It was...yeah it was pretty bad. Not as bad as the second one, not nearly as good as the first. There's some scenes with Jack I really like but, c'mon, a whole movie can't stand on how good Johnny Depp is able to make a fool of himself while still being cool. (Or can it?)

I think the most annoying thing about the movie was how shamelessly everything worked out for the main characters. I mean, there's SO MANY problems in this movie whose solutions the main characters just seem to walk right into. Like when keys that Jack is trying to get falls down from the mast while two ships are spinning around in a whirlpool and Jack just ends up finding them a few moments later. I could list a bunch of other "convenient" things, but I won't.

There is a lot of badass stuff going on in relation to Kiera Knightly. Especially in the 20 minutes after the title sequence. But then she screw it up later in the movie by being a bad actress.

Also...it's a cliffhanger AGAIN. Not as bad a one as in the second movie, but it's a little tiring.

How is it a cliffhanger? They left it off with Jack just being Jack. Whether or not he finds the fountain of youth isn't really necessary for another movie, is it?

Drink up, me hearties, yo ho!

Nah, I'm talking about the unrequited love thing between Will and whats-her-face. I mean, they're not gonna just leave it at that.

It's not unrequited! They both love each other. The problem is that now that Will is captain of the Flying Dutchman, he can only visit her every ten years.

Wait, did you wait until after the credits?

I don't get why she couldn't just go on the boat with him. Is she SERIOUSLY supposed to be the Pirate King/Queen now! Like that wouldn't lead to an inevidible pirate civil war.

What's Monkey D. Luff supposed to do now that a CHICK is the Pirate King? Get a job a Long John Silvers?

Well of course all of this stuff will provide fodder for the next movie. I can totally see Jack and what's-her-face getting caught up in some crazy Fountain of Youth adventure in the next movie, and then when they're about to get into trouble Will's ship will burst from under the water to rescue them both.

I really doubt there is going to he a third movie. I'm pretty sure they used the fountian of youth thing just as a object to show what hes doing next.

I mean hes a pirate, hes always after something.

There is going to be a new movie in 2011. Whether it's a sequel or prequel isn't known yet. Johnny will definitely be in it. Orlando wants to be in it but there's a budget issue. Keira won't be in it.

I just saw it on memorial day, and I didn't like it. Now keep in mind, I hate pirates in general and don't understand everyone's current fascination with them, but I felt like overall the movie was poor no matter what it was about.

It was long and despite the frequent action scenes I got bored with it. And confused. No matter where you are in the film you're less that 10 minutes away from somebody double-crossing somebody. By the end of the film you have to try and remind yourself who's on whose side, and it needlessly convoluted the plot.

It's funny the lengths they went to to make pirates look good. They had to make the East India Company look as bad as possible in order to make you feel good about rooting for a people whose profession is primarily raping, stealing, and murdering. How do you make pirates look good? Have the "bad" guys hang a child, I guess.

You could tell the film was trying to be funny, but I can no longer laugh at Johnny Depp swaggering around as if to say, "Ha ha, look how eccentric I am! Aren't pirates endearingly gruff and silly?" Pirates are too predictable. You wanna keep me entertained, give me a pirate who doesn't do exactly what I expected him to do.

It wasn't without its eye candy and fun fight scenes, but in the end I'm glad I only payed the matinee price for this one.
