Photoshop,Illustrator, or both?

I am in need of opinions(shouldn't be too hard to find). For my artistic endevors on my computer should I as the title suggest get photoshop,illustrator, or both of them(which I know is alot of money any way I slice it.) Personal experiances, or just a good old recomendation I just need assistance.

Have you had any experience with either? They are both complicated and scary if you've never tried them before.
I personally just use OpenCanvas cause it's all I need. It's basically photoshop light.

I love Photoshop. I think it is the best image editor out there. Also, you can ususally get "imageReady" as a plug in . ImageReady is great at making animated gifs.
Chuck uses Illustrator for the word balloons and logos. Illustrator is vector based, so resolution is not lost no matter how big or small you make the images.
Thay are both really great programs.

Unfortuanly I haven't had any experience with either :( But I really want to learn. They both sound really useful. I really have to think about this.

The thing about it is, for most comics, either one's usually as good as the other. It all depends on what you get used to. I will say that I, personally, use Photoshop, and more importantly, most professional comic companies use Photoshop as the standard, so that should give you some idea of what to go for.

I am doing a pen/pencil comic. I but for certain occasions I would like to be able to produce great colored work you know.
