For some reason no matter what I do in PS the only colors I can use is grayish and black, I can't pick any sort of color. No idea way.
Can anyone help?

It happens to me sometimes, too. You must have accidentally set the color mode to Grayscale, meaning all the colors come out Gray. Killersteak posted a fairly simple solution to this problem above me.
