YES. The books are amazing and funny! Riordan made an updated version of Greek mythology that was witty and AWESOME. ...good book. tLT is #5 on my favorite books of all time.

The books weren't spectacular, but they sufficed.

Most movie are based on books, including some real classic films and top notch action and scifi movies. At least I wouldn't lump movies like Die Hard and Bladerunner in with a lot of the more recent adaptations. Quite honestly, I place most of the blame for bad movies and adaptations on the viewing public. What's Hollywood supposed to do when movies like Twilight Saga: New Moon break sales records apart from make more shit like it? Obviously, people are content watching shit, so they deserve what they get.
