PC Games Hate Me

I got my birthday presents a bit earlier. (It's actually Monday.) I got a Nintendo DS with two games and three PC games: Doom 3, Black & White 2, and an interesting little addition I wasn't aware of..."Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse"! The thing is...god help me if I get a pc game that actually WORKS properly. :x Even if they install properly I have either a texture, loading, lag, or freeze up problem.

So first I don't have a good enough graphic card for "Stubbs", (9200 as opposed to 9500, ooo NOOO.) While trying to get it to work anyway we find out why all of my other games act screwy with graphics and trying to download them. My drive was generic and not...right....or something. So fixed that...I think.

Took a break from all the annoyance, a fuse blows in the house. After the power comes back on and when I come back to the computer I find that it won't come back on. So my pop helps to fix THAT. Once back to the desktop I try to download Doom 3 instead, which my comp has the requirements for.

Disc one starts up the installation okay but makes funny clicking noises, but the rest of the cds run smoothly (no noises) so I thought "okay, just a little fluke...it's still gonna work". Nope, once it tells me to put in disc one again to finish up the installation...clicking noises, won't read the cd, thus leaving me unable to get rid of the "insert disc one" popup and move on. Won't finish that last bit...so there was no installation at all.

After trying a second time to install it, I'm guessing now that something's still fucked with my drive or I have a defective Doom 3 disc one cd. For good reason, I'm afraid to try Black & White 2. :Hangman:

Yup. PC's are great when they work right but games really seperate out the herd... The game industry SUCKS.
The best computer game ever is still Tetris. And you can make that run on anything.

thats why I play old games (dated 2003 or earlier). Fuck these new games. They require so much graphics and really make your hardware work hard.

I still play Starcraft and CnC Generals once in awhile.
NOW UPDATING!!!

There's a reason I'm a consol person. The only PC game I have is the UT2004 demo.

I had hell with my old computer, I could install any game before 2004, Though everytime it started, the screen went black and showed the "out of range". Knowing that the game would work, and not being able to play them is hell. You know you need a new screen when you have to install one of those huge old moniters just to play Sim City 3000 or SWAT 3. Hell not even emulators work anymore.

Stupid Sony Vaio 800x600 screen.

p.s. If you think PC Games hate you, try being a gamer with an iMac.

I only use my PC for WoW and the KotOR games - only because of how incomplete the KotORz are (well, not the first one) and the patches you can download from online to incorporate the missing scenes.

Otherwise, I only use it for games that needs emulators to run - like the SCUMMVM or DosBox programs... I can never really keep up to date on system requirements, so I kind of gave up on PC gaming.

Problem fixed. Turns out my cd tray was full of dust. Doom 3 works okay now, but the graphics aren't amazing because I guess my video card still isn't good enough. (Is the text in the menus of the game supposed to so blurry that it's near impossible to read...?) ...but at least I'm finally playing it.
