Not exactly a "How do I ...?" more of a "Why ...?"

So ... does anyone know why the number of pages shown beneath my comic changes from time to time? Sometimes it shows the total number of pages uploaded (including pages not yet "live" ) and sometimes it just shows the number of live pages. I don't particularly mind which it shows, I just can't see why it's sometimes one thing and sometimes the other.

Any ideas?
